Krita feels sluggish

Fri Mar 06, 2015 11:00 pm
Hello,
Sorry in advance if this thread lacks readability, English is not my main language.

I really like Krita, but I have noticed the program feels very sluggish in Windows sometimes. Let me explain a bit further why I say it is sluggish. I am NOT only talking of the brushes... and it doesn't always happen, so I am a bit lost. Let me explain.

A problem I run into frequently is that krita seems to be just slow, and the only fix I found was to reboot the computer.
One example of it happened just 10 minutes ago.

I opened Krita and a small picture (527x800, 80kb), then I opened another document (standard A4 template, with the base layer and another empty layer) and placed them next to each others (Krita multiple document mode is "sub windows"). when I tried to draw on the A4 picture, the brush seemed to be slowed down a lot, to the point it was simply impossible to draw at all. the stabilizer was off, and even with the mouse it felt extremely slow. I also noticed the program felt slower too, opening Krita took a good 10 second, creating a blank A4 document a good 5 seconds, even opening that small picture and creating a layer took 5 seconds
After rebooting, Krita works well again and is not slow at all. Strange thing is, when I do the exact same things I did earlier, Krita does not slow down, so I am a bit puzzled.

edit : after writing this post, I went back to krita, closed it, then re opened it just after... and it acts slow again.
I did nothing (except close and open Krita) between the time when I opened it and it worked fine. I did nothing during the moment Krita was closed. so yea... I am lost.

My computer is very capable so nothing is bottlenecking it (specs at the end of the post.)

Did anybody experience such problems? any idea of what to do or if it a known problem? even if I can just fix it by rebooting, it is kinda annoying.
Thanks for reading.
