We need a bit more information than that: What exactly happens? Which precise version did you download? What are your computer specs?

Hi everyone,
Same problem here on: Windows 7 professional - 32 bit (6.1 build 7601). I have tried both the zip and the msi version (.exe) 1) The zip version does not start. It looks like it needs the following dll: MSVCP110 I suppose I might try to get myself this dll on-line and add to my computer... 2). The msi (.exe) version crashes at the very beginning without any message. I have even tried to start it from the CMD console but it always crashes without any message. Therefore, I don't have any clue about this problem On this same system, Krita 2.8 worked fine in the long past. |

It's probably a packaging error, dash it...

I had a slight problem with Krita 2.9.2 opening at first after I installed it. The solution I found was simply deleting the old krita folder in c://users/"user name"/Appdata/krita. Of course make sure you backup/move your brush presets, brushes, patterns, etc before deleting the main krita folder. Basically, make sure you uninstall the previous version of Krita and delete the old krita folder and then install new krita msi or zip. You will have to re-blacklist brushes you don't want because for some odd reason the previous blacklist doesn't work for this version - old tags still works tho.

I made new 32 bits packages; the 64 bits packages worked for me.

Hi everyone,
Just installed again Krita 2.9.2 - 32 bit version (on my Windows 7 Professional - 32 bit system). Now everything works fine (no crash at startup) ![]() I have tried both the zip and the msi version (32 bit). Yesterday, I have tried the 64 bit - ZIP version on my Windows 7 (64 bit system) and It worked great and extremely fast. |

There are two krita folders. One folder is the program files folder and the other is under C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming\krita < this is the folder you want to delete. Leave the program file krita folder alone. I recommend uninstalling krita completely, deleting the krita folder under C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming\krita and reinstalling. This should fix the problem of Krita crashing/not starting after you install it. BTW I only mentioned backing up your brushes because you mentioned you used older versions of krita, but if you don't make custom brushes or presets then there is no need to back anything up, just delete the folder. |

For me too, Krita 2.9.2 won't start. It crashes at the splash screen.
I've tried removing Krita's settings from appdata but to no avail. Here is the error log copied from Windows crash report dialog: Problem event: APPCRASH Application name: krita.exe App version: 0.0.0.0 Timestamp: 551c3ca6 Error - module name: pigmentcms.dll Error - module version: 0.0.0.0 Error - module timestamp: 54fdbcd9 Exeption code: c0000005 Exeption offset: 000fe884 OS version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale id: 1038 More information 1: 0a9e More information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 More information 3: 0a9e More information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e78 Also: should I update Intel's video drivers? The highest version available in Windows Update is 9.17.10.4101 opposed to the recommended 10.18.14 but I don't know where to find those drivers nor do I know which version should I get for my mainboard. Thanks in advance! |
