Graphics card

Tue Dec 08, 2015 10:24 pm
What is needed in a graphics card for Krita? Is a dedicated one best, or are on-board ones generally fine? I mean needed as in for a comfortable user experience, that won't result in running into the hardware limitations every other day.

Thanks for your help!

OpenGL 3.0 is necessary for the animation and performance features.

OGL 2.0/2.1 is minimum for the rest.

Pretty much all cards support that. Reasonably recent Intel onboard GPU's are usually fine, unless you happen to have bought a system with a broken driver (symptom: black canvas) for which the manufacturer hasn't brought out a driver update. They usually don't...

Understood, but, can you recommend a specific / current NVIDIA and AMD card? It would help me greatly.
Thanks in advance,
