Can I install latest version and keep previous version also?

Do I have to uninstall my previous version of Krita if I want to install the latest stable build? It would be nice if I could have both in case I encounter problem with the latest Krita.
What is recommended? |

The animation beta is only there in zip format for this purpose, you can't install over your previous version with it. 2.9.10 is a stable release.
