Problem with graphic card (openGL)

Mon Dec 21, 2015 2:15 pm
Hello

I run Krita on a laptop (Asus, Core i7, GeForce 740 M) using windows 8.1
This computer uses a Geforce 740M and a intel graphic processor. Usually, graphic applications runs the Geforce but sometime I have to force the use of the GeForce (if I don't, the program uses the Intel Processor). When I run Krita, it doesn't use the GeForce even if I do a right-clic on the program icon and select "run with .... best performance NVIDIA"
I tried with the 2.9.10 official release and a beta ( krita_2.9.10.1ae_beta_x64.zip )
Is there a way to use the good graphic card (even if it's not a very good card, it's still far better than the intel processor).
I just can add that I run many programs that use the GeForce (from blender to Premiere as exemples)

thank you

Sorry, I have no idea. I don't have access to hardware with two graphics cards in there, so I cannot even begin to investigate whether we're doing something wrong, whether Qt does something wrong or whether it's a problem with the OS or the way the lnk file is created. All of that needs a Windows expert with access to the right hardware and knowledge of how this kind of graphics card selection is usually done.

thank you. I'll do some tryouts with other drivers but mine is up-to-date so I guess it's something with Krita...

Well, as I said, I don't know. It could be a host of different things, but without hardware, without some expert knowledge, any guess is just a guess. Krita itself doesn't handle low-level things like that, we have Qt for that, and Qt uses Windows, so it can go wrong anywhere.

ok.
I don't know anything about the graphic cards management. I just know the intel one is there to use less energy so the battery lasts longer (it's almost no use for me as most of time my laptop is connected to electricity)
Hope someone will know but it's not a big deal : Krita still run without the good videocard

have you tried white listing Krita thru the Nvidia control panel? Process should be similar to the first post at this link https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/s ... PU-monitor
