I'm having a hard time installing Krita, first of all the download is really slow- I don't have problems with other downloads at all. It took forty minutes just to get so I could run the program installer. When I finally did a Windows Installer box popped up and said:
"The installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package." I downloaded the 64-bit (I have an Alienware that runs Windows 7, definitely 64-bit) on Chrome and then Firefox- same problem. I am the Administrator. I ran Windows Fix It. It's a Windows Vista or newer program so I know there's no issues there. I think someone said create a second user account and try installing it from there- not sure if that would work. What do you think I should do? Thank you! |

It still is a broken download. And it still is your internet connection, I'm afraid, despite you "not having problems with any other downloads": the installers download from a mirrored network of download servers spread around the world. You should use a download manager, which can resume when the connection breaks. You can also try to download a portable zip file from files.kde.org/krita/windows, which you can unpack on, say, your desktop. You can then run bin/krita.exe.
(Oh, and another thing: next time you join us on irc, wait until someone answers... It's not like we've got a team of customer assistants waiting to pounce on a "Hello" within five minutes or so.) |

I tried downloading it on a Guest account and it worked in less than a minute, downloaded with no issues and I can use it on my primary account. Thank you so much for your reply! I'll definitely look into to a download manager, is there any one that you recommend? I'm sorry about not waiting for a reply on irc, I posted this and then I thought maybe I could get an answer quicker irc but then I decided to just try the second account method. I understand that there's no team and I thank you for getting back to me so quickly! ![]() |

You're welcome! I'd be suspicious if one user on the same machine downloads a lot quicker than another user, that just sounds weird, as if the webbrowser has some bad extensions installed. This article has some stuff on download managers: lifehacker.com/5045093/five-best-download-managers, maybe it'll help...
