Just got my Surface Pro 4, installed latest version of krita along with latest updates from MS. (i5 4gig version)
Krita does not recognize the side click of the pen as it should. I've tried going into preferences and seeing if I could get it to recognize it by manually editing the show popup pallet option, but it won't even recognize the input. I did notice however, that if I hover in the grey space off to the side of the canvas, it says "shift". Any fix currently for this? Thank you krita contributors and developers for a very awesome piece of free software outside of this little issue. |

Try the 3.0 pre-alpha builds, they have some improvements for the n-trig pen.

I've encountered this problem on my Surface Pro 4 too (Krita v. 3.0.1.1 64 bit). I haven't found a fix but I've accidentally discovered a good workaround. Maybe you already know it but since I haven't read about it anywhere, I subscribed to this forum to share it:
It's true that right-clicking with the pen is not recognized on the canvas but it is in the interface. For example right-clicking on a layer in the layers docker would open a context menu. The same happens in a lot of other parts, like the image tab, the toolbar, any value box, etc. Anytime you need the popup palette on the canvas you just need to right-click any part of the interface that would open a context menu. Once this is up, right-click on the canvas and the popup palette should appear. It's not a fix but with this workaround the palette is just one more right-click away. |

@ClauS - Great workaround. That Surface Pen and the right-click is probably the most annoying thing with it. When I get it to work, I might do it slightly different.
1. hold down the right click button 2. click on the interface (keep the right click button pressed) 3. click on the canvas This brings up the pop-up palette. I wish there was a way to make the right click button actually do a right click, but this work-around might have to do for now. Thanks for the tip! |

@scottpetrovic that's exactly what I meant and what I do. When I talked about right-clicking on the surface I was indeed referring implicitly to the combination of side button (which is the topic subject) + tip click. I'm not a native English speaker so maybe I didn't express myself very clearly with all of those words. Thank you for summarizing the steps so well. |

This should be published on kritas blog, i've search it for a really long time, even if it is a workaround.
