3.0 Portable

Wed Apr 27, 2016 3:50 pm
Hello everyone, my first post here.
Long time GIMP user looking to make a switch to Krita. I really like GIMP but Kriita's user interface feels so much better, a lot more professional looking and functional.
Performance and fluidity is also miles away, Krita feels responsive and light. Really enjoying my time with it. :)

Now to the question at hand, I read here that you could create a batch file to Make Krita on Windows Portable. by create a .bat file with the content
Code: Select all
set KDEHOME=%~dp0AppData
start /d %~dp0bin krita.exe

This used to work just fine for the 2.9# series, but I've been playing with the recent 3.0 Alpha builds and this no longer seems to work. I suspect this has to do with the port to Qt5 framework, right?

So my question is if there's an equivalent way to make Krita 3.0 Portable, some sort of setting or different command line options that can set the user profile folder, preferably that can use a relative path.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The main difference is that the resource folder is in a different spot for 3.0, so I would look into that first:

Hum I see...
It used to be under the Roaming folder
Code: Select all
User\AppData\Roaming\krita\share\apps\krita\

and now it's under Local
Code: Select all
user\Appdata\Local\krita

So how can I change that via command line, should setting KDEHOME variable still work as before or is that method no longer supported?
For the 3.0 Alphas overriding KDEHOME it doesn't seem to have any effect, settings are still written to the default Roaming folder, is this a bug, or a limitation of the current alphas?
