Once I updated to a newer stable release, bleeding edge/new betas (anything that is currently available on the krita.org site. I tried them all.)- Krita frequently crashes before loading fully.
If I do get it to load, it freezes as soon as I attempt to create or open a canvas of any size, and then crashes. Occasionally I'll get it to work, but that requires opening/closing/running as administrator repeatedly until it doesn't crash. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling already, as well. Can you see if you can get a backtrace of these crashes (https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#How_can ... Windows.3F) and then attach those to a bugreport on bugs.kde.org?
Another thing you can try is resetting the Krita configuration: https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#Resetti ... figuration |

Reset config works when booting up, but opening a canvas of any size still causes it to crash. How do I install DrMingw, the instructions on their site aren't clear. I've downloaded it, but they just say to install it to enter "drmingw -i", but not where to enter it. I've tried run, command prompt, etc with no results. |

Updating a bit:
If I can open a 512x512 canvas, close it without saving, and then open a larger canvas (say, 1024x1024 or larger)- then everything works fine. If I boot up and try to load that same 1024x1024 pixel canvas without first doing the 512px one, then it crashes immediately. Don't know if that gives any indication as to what's going on. |
