Windows 10
nvidia gtx780m When using the ruler and other elements like it, the drawing effect does not refresh properly on the canvas. When you start to draw the elements will show up, and when you do things that may refresh the canvas screen the elements will show up, but they do not move with the cursor like it should. Works fine in linux on the same system. (probably using nouveau drivers not nvidia proprietary however.) I couldn't search the bug tracker to find this issue. It's almost impossible to search for anything, for a newbie to the bug tracker. |

Separate issue, but the ruler assistant... working with vanishing point in particular, is way too sensitive to the first direction it recognizes. 80% of the time the assistant will lock on a ruler that I didn't want. Which is abnormally high, but is clearly due to simply just the twitch of the hand when trying to get the cursor to go in a certain direction.

for the refresh issue you can try disabling OpenGL in Settings -> Configure Krita -> Display.
You seem to have a laptop, do you per chance have an intel graphics card in there as well? you may want to try forcing windows to use the nvidia graphics card for krita instead of the built-in intel one, or the other way around. In any case, please give us a few more details, like your exact driver versions for both the nvidia graphics card and (if it exists) the intel graphics card. |

Disabling open gl just makes it look terrible... kind of refreshes but only in spots, and causes latent images of the ruler elements to stick around.
It is a laptop, I'm not at home at the moment to look at the drivers versions. As for disabling the intel graphics, I don't believe I can. If it's there at all. This laptop has particular problems in linux that it can't even get the nvidia card working in linux. I'm just frustrated. |

Alright, so now I've discovered the problem.
It affects all platforms (win, mac, and linux), and is not graphics card related (tested multiple computers). Assistant lines and elements when using the vanishing point tool don't draw (following the cursor) until the canvas (or screen) refreshes. The canvas can be refreshed by turning on the brush preview, which forces the canvas refresh when the cursor is moved. With brush preview off assistant lines that follow the cursor don't draw, until the program refreshes the canvas on it's own or by things that trigger the refresh like changing the layer. If the canvas refreshes when changing the layer the lines follow to the cursor point at the layer panel and does not move away until another refresh happens. |
