I have a brand new Surface Pro 4, and am super excited to try out Krita, as I can't afford an Adobe subscription. However, the touch sensitivity in the app is not working. This seems to be a common problem, and the FAQ resolves this problem by going to the Surface Pro 4 Drivers page -- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49498 -- and Downloading Wintab_x64_1.0.0.20.zip and SurfacePro4_Win10_161201_0.msi. However, Microsoft appears to have updated the drivers page and now SurfacePro4_Win10_161201_0.msi is no longer available. Instead the options are as follows:
SurfacePro4_Win10_10586_1702001_0.msi 223.9 MB SurfacePro4_Win10_10586_1702001_1.zip 591.2 MB SurfacePro4_Win10_15063_1702001_0.msi 226.3 MB SurfacePro4_Win10_15063_1702001_1.zip 596.4 MB SurfacePro4_Win10_1701001_0.msi 235.6 MB SurfacePro4_Win10_1701001_0.zip 590.3 MB Wintab_x32_1.0.0.20.zip 4.5 MB Wintab_x64_1.0.0.20.zip I've downloaded Wintab and SurfacePro4_Win10_1701001_0.msi but it still isn't working. Does anybody know how to get touch sensitivity onto Krita? |

i have the same issue on a new Surface Pro (without any number)
Pressure Sensitvity is not working (in other programs it works flawlessly). I assumed that the Surface Pen should work at least with the app from the Windows Store -- so i gave it a try and bought the Windows App of Krita i was very disappointed to see that it also didnt work with the paid version please fix this issue with the next update. I really liked the Krita project and already donated 20 bucks some time ago. i also tried to install winTab drivers, but it didn't help. "Surface Pro 4" drivers won't install because it is not the correct version. (Surface Pro (new)) if you have any idea what i can try, please help me

The Windows Store application is, as is clearly stated, exactly the same binaries as you can download from the krita.org website. There is no functional difference. There has been someone on our chat channel who promised to work on native support for Windows Ink, but we haven't seen any code yet. And the Microsoft documentation for Windows Ink is abominable.
So, the only possibility is to use the n-trig wintab drivers. They are tricky to get to work, and since we only have access to a Surface Pro 3 and a Surface Pro 4, where the wintab drivers work fine, we cannot figure out how Microsoft messed up the drivers for newer models. At a rough estimate, developing support for Windows Ink would take us at least 80 hours. Our full-time developers get 15 euros an hour... Which means that need to price adding support for Windows Ink at 1200 euros, minimum... |

Have you guys tried contacting Microsofoft about this? If their updates are breaking existing programs, they really need to know about it. They must have done something in their latest updates that are causing the issue.
If it is working on our surface pro 3 and 4 models, it is hard to know what Microsoft has changed. |

thank you for your prompt response - i will try again to get it to work with the ntrig wintab drivers in the evening -- do you have a guide how to properly install them? (cause you said it's tricky - i just ran the installation)
still hoping to see this fixed in a future version. Windows Store ratings would certainly benefit. probably the 1200 eur would come back in the long run. |

I just purchased a Surface Pro (2017) as well and was also having the same touchscreen issues. I downloaded the wintab drivers in both 32bit and 64bit, got the brand new driver from windows website https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55484 as it wouldn't let me install the ones Krita directed me to, and I also installed everything from this link https://www.reddit.com/r/Surface/comments/41vgvq/surface_pro_4_incredibly_powerful_yet_slowly/cz6bhdl/ restarted my computer and it finally worked! Good luck to everyone out there, I was certain that I was doomed to not using Krita because I got the Surface Pro 2017 instead of the Surface Pro 4.

Thanks LibAnderson
I can confirm this works for me too with the new Surface Pro (2017). But there is no tilt support yet. Or did I miss something? Am I right assuming, that we'll have to wait for the official wintab driver for the 'new' Surface Pro? I sure hope this will be in due time. Regards BsIngA |
