Hi,
I'm having a problem with Krita (3.1.4 Windows store build). When I first open the app, it looks normal, but as soon as I open a document, the UI shifts outwards slightly, hiding the menu and anything else on the edges of the screen. The mouse registration also seems to be affected, as I have to click below a button to activate it, if it recognises the click at all. I'm using a Dell XPS 15 with a 4k screen, so I don't know if that might affect it? Thanks, Owen |

I have tried switching on HiDPI support, and completely uninstalling and reinstalling Krita. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could try, because right now Krita is completely unusable.

It's not something with the code in Krita itself... It must be some weird interaction between the development platform we use, Qt, and Windows 10. As I said on Reddit, I have heard of this before, but I don't remember what the issue was. You can try to reset Krita's configuration, I guess: https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#Resetti ... figuration -- uninstalling and reinstalling Krita doesn't affect the settings, so doesn't change anything.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I tried removing the kritarc file, but it made no difference. Anything else I can try? It used to work fine until last week. Owen |

I suspect that it's a windows update then that broke something...

Windows update ruins everything. But, I don't think Windows Update alone is what broke Krita on the author's end. I do not recall the problem in non windows store build. Heck, I don't recall Windows Update ruining a part of a program rather than not letting it open in my experience. I think it has to do with interaction between Windows sandboxie for Store Apps, and Krita, and Windoes Update altogether.

There is no difference between Krita in the windows store and krita as downloaded from krita.org. Exactly the same code executes.

I fixed the issue by turning off OpenGL in Settings->Display

I am having the same issue on my Lenovo X1 Yoga 2017.
Windows 10 pro and scaling set to 150%. When I open the application, it looks normal. Once you create a new document the interface shifts outwards and the menu is hiding under the title bar and the toolbar on the left is unusable. Also, the calibration of the pen seems off. To click on an icon, I need to click below the icon to the right somewhere to select it. I can also not get the pen marker to go to the edge of the screen. It stays a few pixels away from the edge. I will try to disable the openGL setting. Does this impact the (drawing) performance? |

Yes, and panning, zooming, rotating, animation frame creation, instant preview and it disables wraparound mode.
But on my set of hidpi windows systems where scaling is 150% (sp3, thinkpat t470p and wacom msp) -- nothing, nothing gives that result. Neither on the intel display chip (all 3 of them) or the nvidia (the latter two). So it's still a configuration puzzle, I guess. Maybe I shouldn't have bought the t470p, but bought the yoga x1, but it was too expensive for me . |

disabling OpenGL does indeed avoid the issue.
x1 yoga is indeed expensive I only got it last week, so I am still discovering how the pen works. Maybe it is some kind of other software or driver interfering? I am a (mainly .Net) developer. Perhaps I can help with some debug log in some way? |

It must be something in the latest intel display drivers combined with the Qt platform... We're working on creating a version of Krita that uses ANGLE as an in-between layer to direct3d, so the quality of the opengl drivers doesn't matter anymore.

out of curiosity, I see that there is a new release (3.3.1), but the release notes page is referring to release 3.2.
I did not have a chance yet to see (=test) if the above issue is among the bugfixes. Is it? Or did the ANGLE development mentioned above not land in this release yet? |
