Hi fellow Krita People (Kritures? Kri-ators?),
I realize pressure sensitivity in Krita on Microsoft Surface is a subject which has been done almost to death and back, but I'm having a specific issue that I can't find reference or resolution to. My pen is pressure sensitive, but it's like I've got my sensitivity curve adjusted weird, even when I don't. Basically the full range of response is all within the slightest bit of my input - ie, when I just barely brush my pen over the surface, barely even touching it, I get the thinnest line . . . and then as soon as I use the slightest bit more pressure, I get the maximum solid/thickest line. I've tried messing with the curve in "Tablet settings", and within individual different brushes I'm trying to use . . . no real help. I do not have the same problem in other software, ie in Sketchbook I get a nice smooth gradation from light to heavy, when I push from quite light to quite hard. Before I embark on yet another fruitless round of uninstalling and reinstalling every imaginable driver, plug-in, application, and operating system, can anybody tell me what I might be missing? Microsoft Surface 3 (not surface PRO 3), windows 10, Krita 3.1.3 Thanks! Calum / Riot Nrrrd |

There's a special app in the windows store that allows you to change the curve, iirc. You can also change the response curve in Krita itself, but that only takes effect after the curve defined in Windows.

Thanks Boudewijn, that does help!
For anybody else in this boat: Yes, there's a "surface app" that comes as a part of your windows installation, and it contains settings and options for your pen that cannot be found in the control panel, or by searching "pen" or "pen settings" from the start bar . . . waytogo, Microsoft! Happy Krita-ing! Calum |

I have encountered the same issue. I am on Windows 10 desktop - pressure sensitivity functions in Sketchbook and Photoshop, but not Krita. And to complicate matters, I did install OBS. Prior to that, I think pressure sensitivity was working in Krita, but I can's specifically recall. Is there something in the OBS installation that doesn't agree with Krita?
Some community members have reported that pressure sensitivity returns to Krita once OBS is closed, or am I misinterpreting? Unfortunately, that's not the case for me. This is a strange issue. I'd really love to live stream my artwork again using OBS an Krita. For now, I am using Sketchbook to do that. I'm stumped. Thank you!!!

If OBS captures events at a low level, then sends them on, then it could intercept tablet events and send them on as mouse events. Personally, on Windows 7 with OBS, last year, I did not have that problem, but who knows what they could have changed, or what OBS settings could have an influence.

Thank you for the response, I appreciate that. That's interesting and does make sense. I wonder if OBS is running a process at startup. Even though I haven't opened the application (OBS), pressure sensitivity is non-existent in Krita. I'll look into this and see if there is a process running that's causing this. You've put me on the hunt!!! Thank you! |
