Hi, my brush tool is stuttering. It happens usually at the start of a stroke, but sometimes it happens when changing direction suddenly. It happens with my mouse and my Wacom Intuos Pro pen, and Art pen.
Here's an example, compared with Autodesk Sketchbook. I'm using Krita 3.3.3 Portable, default settings. CPU: i7 6700 GPU: GTX 1050 Ti RAM: 16GB OS: Windows 10.0.16299, x64 Thanks, I hope someone can help. This does remind me of an old issue on Windows 7, where you had to turn "flicks" off, to disable the hold to right-click function. But can't understand why mouse is also affected. |

Same issue here.
My Setup: CPU: i7 2600K GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 RAM: 16GB OS: Windows 10 Home x64 Steps to reproduce: - Fresh install of windows 10 home - Install GPU drivers - Install Tablet drivers - Install Krita 3.3.3 - Draw with wacom tablet or mouse - lines are stuttering like in the picture of kiteryu This worked unitl a few weeks ago. Maybe something from a windows update? I already tried to disable every kind of tablet & pen settings provided by windows. |

I'm pretty sure it's a windows update that broke something for wacom's driver. I've had reports that updating the wacom driver fixed it for some people. I haven't had the issue on my wacom msp, but then, that one is always up to date.

Hi,
I am new to Krita and I came here to report the same thing. I was watching some YouTube videos about Krita before I even started playing with it and most of them were acclaiming it but I stumbled upon one that defined it as "unusable" due to brush stutter. So I went to try it out and, sure enough, the brush stutters. It not only stutters when I am using my tablet, however, but also a mouse - which is disappointing, as Krita seemed to be an amazing alternative to PS. My Wacom tablet (Intuos Draw) is also fairly new, and I've already installed the newest drivers. I will attach a copy of a dxdiag report for system specs but here is an overview of them: OS: Windows 10 Student CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700 8 Core 3.0GHz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 3GB Physical Ram: 32GB Storage: WD Blue 1TB Internal SSD Solid State Drive - SATA 6Gb/s WDS100T1B0A + Seagate BarraCuda ST2000DM006 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Hard Drive. Is there any potential fix to this or current work? I love the default brushes in Krita and have heard so many good things, but I see that the "stutter" issue has been reported as far back as 2014. I would love to use Krita but with the stutter it is unusable =\ DxDiag info: https://pastebin.com/6ha3FyuK Thanks! |

The thing is, it's impossible to guess what's up there. It's not something that happens for everyone, only for some people. We've had people reporting problems on their desktops with their laptops being fine. And terms like "lag" or "stutter" are pretty meaningless. They mean different things to different people, and mean nothing at all in a rigorous "this is what happens, we can reproduce it" sense.
All I can say is that your system should be faster than any of the Windows systems I test Krita with; and I don't see any performance problems. So, please check https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#Krita_is_slow, and see whether any of the suggestions makes a difference for you. |

Well, I can get my Wacom Intuos CTH-480 to sometimes draw a straight segment near the beginning like OP's screenshot. I highly suspect it is some kind of weird issue with Wacom's driver, since I hadn't had this issue until recently after updating the Wacom driver (though I haven't used the Wacom for a few months), and the N-Trig digitizer on my Surface does not get this issue at all.
I can only suggest trying an old version of the Wacom driver (something that was released more than 3 months ago). I was tempted to try that but I had been too busy with other things to try. |

Ah, I think this might be the issue:
In the Wacom driver config, there is an option for "double-click distance", this might be the cause of the issue. Try sliding it down to off. This must be a new option introduced recently. I did not remember seeing this before. |

Hello everyone,
I have also been having the same issue with Krita where the start of my brush stroke will lag and not appear until I have moved the pen more. It makes line work very difficult and unpleasant. I was hoping the update to Krita 4.0 would have helped this issue, but unfortunately it has been a relatively persistent one for me (even though I recently upgraded to a stronger computer too). I am using a Huion H610 Pro. I am operating windows 10 on an Asus Zen All-in-One desktop. Here is an outline of the specs: OS: Windows 10 System Type: 64bit RAM: 12gb Processor: Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz, 2808Mhz, 4 core Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 I am hoping to find a solution to this issue, as it has remained a problem for me through both hardware and software updates. Any input would be appreciated. |

Hi.
You can try to switch to Direct3D in the settings. Works better for me than OpenGL. Andreas |

This. I was having lagging or stuttering issues when I first began using Krita and after researching it I found that a large amount of people were having this issue for an extended period of time. There were a large amount of videos regarding it on YouTube, forum posts, etc. It seems like something that, while it doesn't affect everybody, does affect a large amount of people. The problem for me, I found out, is OpenGL which is selected by default. If I have OpenGL selected in the "Canvas Acceleration" part of settings, it causes the brush to lag whenever I am beginning a stroke. If I change this to something else or disable it, the lag magically disappears. |
