I usually run Windows versions of krita under WINE (wine-staging on Debian 9) because it's easier and more convenient than slotting my Windows 10 drive in and booting it up. It works fine apart from very slightly degraded fonts.
Recently, krita windows versions under WINE have shown some strange problems that do not happen running on Windows 10. Krita on Windows 10 has also started showing different problems and I've yet to report this but it may be due to Qt 5.12. (Note: I'm not saying that krita should run under WINE. I'm always pleasantly surprised when Windows applications do run under WINE and I take advantage of this wherever possible.) Is what I'm doing regarded as weird/degenerate or would you like to know about the problems? |

But, Krita is developed on Linux, primarily a Linux program and generally works more expectedly/performant when you're using Linux...
I uh. What inspired you to do this beyond 'I like WINE a lot'? |

What 'inspired' me to do this is the simple convenience when checking if bugs have been fixed in the Windows version or if the Windows version has the same bug as the Linux appimage version.
When I said, "I usually run Windows versions of krita under WINE ...", I didn't mean that I usually run krita by using the Windows version under WINE. I meant that if I want to run a windows version for whatever reason, I usually run it under WINE. I'd have thought it would be generally unusual (and perhaps inappropriate) to properly test a Windows application by running it under WINE. That is why I asked if you'd be interested in any problems that Windows versions of krita have when running under WINE. |

aaaaah.
Hm... Like, it's super cool you wanna go the extra effort, but I suspect it's only really useful if it already is confirmed to happen on windows. That way we know it can be reproduced under wine. If it's not already confirmed, then it could be caused by anything, so maybe not a good idea. We're already super stoked with people trying to reproduce stuff on Linux, to be honest |
