Hi,

can anyone explain why is Use in-stack preview in Transform Tool on by default? When it's enabled (On my RTX2080Ti), transforming anything using the transform tools is really slow, around 15-20FPS, which is really obvious on a 144Hz display. Given how frequent is usage of transform tool, I always assumed that Krita, out of the box is just really poor performing piece of software. As soon as "Use in-stack preview in Transform Tool" is disabled, the transform tool is perfectly smooth, running at 144FPS as expected.

While this feature is on, when one drags the Transform Tool gizmo around, you can see the Layer UI element in the Layers panel flickering rapidly. This indicates that the Transform Tool refreshes trigger GUI refreshes which seem to be very slow. Part of the issue may also be the fact I have 1000Hz polling rate mouse.

Non the less, such performance heavy options should be off by default. Otherwise the very first experience of many users may be that Krita's performance is not very good, compared to Photoshop or Affinity Photo. The actual performance is comparable, it just seems that this one default setting is ruining it.
