for NEXT, maybe something like this:
![]() they are a little bigger(22x22+1px empty border) then the current plasma ones, but still in the 24x24grid. the color is of corse not final (will use the textcolor). its just that it should remain simple and easy to look at.
thats because it's hard to find a color that you can see on backgrounds with and without blur, on simple colored and photographic backgrounds :s |

Jens Reuterberg wrote: "As for color vs monochrome - I guess we have to agree to disagree on that one but just so you know I've sent a mail to some of the Plasma Devs about systemtray icons being one set and application icons (that get moved to systray) having another, you raised a very good point. So this is me tipping my hat! *tiptip*
![]() In my opinion it is a good idea to separate certain Plasma icons (like tray icons etc.) and application icons (like I wrote in the mail I sent you on 2/9/14, did you get it? Maybe I sent it to the wrong address...) As for monochrome vs. color: If you look at the current actions icons in the oxygen icon set there is a color overload imho: blue forward/backwards buttons but a green reload button. This should have the same color in my opinion. Colors for action icons make sense for certain actions, like the cancel button that appears when loading a website, as it quickly helps you to understand how to abort the process taking place at them moment. So in my opinion, colors for actions should be kept at a minimum, with clearly defined patterns for choosing other colors. There should not be a specific color, but the possibility to adapt to different color schemes / themes and tastes. Of course you can find an individual color for every action, but that does not make a lot of sense, because icons have a shape, and only if two shapes are too similar (like for the calling actions) one could think of using two different colors for it. Maybe we could find a way to make the future application icons also dynamic in the color decision for the monochrome icons: Having a possibility to configure the color of the icons, like in Plasma 2. I am busy right now, so I cannot share all my thoughts in a ordered way, but I would definitely like to help in making specifications for icons. |

Jens: Could link your mail to the Plasma devs about the splitting of Plasma icons? If not, could you quickly sum up, how your idea was accepted?

Sry I have missed this thread - I'll look into it later tonight if I get the time (otherwise tomorrow night). Hope that's ok.
(and it seems I may have talked to some of the devs during a hangout instead of a mail - hmmm... wth? Anyway give me a while to look into the when and where and how ok?)

Hello everybody.
I've modified the luisa's network signal icon with some rounded edges and details. It's made with inkscape and .svg format. Everybody is invited to modify it. I'm newbie about share/community work and I would like to help in some way. I'm not so clever to think about some revoulutionary idea to PlasmaNext and I'm not brave to create some icon from scratch. But I can add some details... ![]() ![]() |

Ok guys - I'm trying to get a hold of the devs in charge for the project so they can actually pick them up and use either of these. Hang on!

@luisadomingues - I'm not sure whether the indicators like exclamation mark, question mark or the lockpad icon will be visible enough. Also icons with various signal strenght are not much different, would be better to have them partially filled/colored, like @lluforma did.
@Leroux - really great work! I really like that the indicators are not as an overlay and the dark colored version. @luisadomingues @Leroux - can you please provide a svgz file with your icons, so I can try them in plasma-nm (eventually post there some screenshots)? You can check here [1] how it looks and what names are used for icons. [1] https://projects.kde.org/projects/playg ... ement.svgz → click to download @Jens - wouldn't be better to create a separated topic, like "System tray icons - networkmanagement" , I could also provide there some tutorial how to get the latest networkmanagament applet and how to try your own icons with it? Because one thing is to see icons on a picture, but it usually looks different in the applet |

@davidwright @jgrulich I'm glad you like these icons
![]() @jgrulich I'll make this svgz file tonight and I'll be very happy to see some screenshots of course. |

Grulich, perhaps... Since the new systemtray icons for next are more or less set it would make sense. Perhaps as "Networkmanager Icons for Plasma Current"
