You mean the green color of the coin or the background?

The background, but the green on the icon will probably need a blue-ish hue if you change the background,

Excellent! I'll pass this on to our mailing list and our G+.
I feel we have a winner in there.

Fantastic job lucashappy!
Thanks for stepping up and producing something it looks like the KMyMoney team will be happy with. |

Thanks! I'm really glad about the positive feedback.
We don't need to hurry things up here. Let's wait for more suggestions and do more iterations! |

For colors, I'd go with Plasma blue at 40% shade for the background and 60% for the icon.
Some of the feedback I got said it needed more details. Can you add letters on the edge of the icon? "KMyMoney" on top, and "KDE" on the bottom edge. And perhaps a tagline below the name, "Personal Finance Manager".

I need some help here. Which color is plasma blue in hexadecimal? There is a kind of common palette used by Plasma that I can look?
Also I didn't understand exactly where you want to add the words. Anyway, I made a draft. The blue that I used was #005099 for background, and a darkershade for the icon (#003666).

I like how it's shaping up.
The icon words could be on the yellow edge, on white or light gray.

As always, nice job on the updates. Not that my opinion matters much but, after spending some time away from it and coming back, my personal preference is the coin without the lettering. Without the lettering, the primary, distinctive element of the whole design - the K "money" symbol on the coin - has some breathing room. That makes is great for instant recognition, the primary purpose of an icon/symbol. At sizes where the coin might appear as an icon by itself, the lettering detail would likely disappear anyway. Larger sizes would mostly likely be accompanied by a label and/or description identifying the app anyway - like this splash graphic - so the lettering on the coin may not add much unique information or recognition value. But this is just my tiny, little view of it. What really matters is what you and the devs like! Ultimately I have no doubt that the final result be wonderful! My goodness it's fun watching this develop. Great work! |

I totally agree with alake. The icon per si is the coin and the lettering adds a kind of information that I think doesn't belongs there.
No lettering White lettering Gray lettering I'm not sure about the ornament. I forgot to correct the color of it in the last draft, but now that I put the right one it seems the previous version was better. But I think it can be removed, letting the coin be really minimalist.

I like the first one, no lettering with the ornament.
You are right, the lettering on the coin makes no sense. Now, on the KMyMoney title under the coin. If you look at our previous logo, it was in bold font, with a green K. I like the suggested one, but it's too minimalist compared to our previous one. It would be nice if there were some kind of connection from the old logo to the new one. Someone more experienced in redesigns could give some advice here.

I propose to use the same K symbol the we use in the coin and a bolder typeface. I made a version with the original green color and another with the yellow also used in the coin.
