I like the yellow one. I think it's probably going to look better when it's paired together with the coin.
It's progressing nicely, indeed.

I also like the second one (with yellow K) more. The green is still there in the line and it's a nice combination with the yellow K. As for the coin decorations could we find something other then the laurel branches? I know it's symbolism from ancient Greece but looking not that far back in history it kind of reminds my of some African dictatorship's coin. Maybe would could use some stars, like on the euro? I guess a vulture would be too complicated .

I like more the green. My observation is that the line is not completelly aligned with the letters. It's touching the y of KMy but it's way above any other letter when it goes up. BR |

I align the line with the "M" top, the last Y and the K letter (disregarding the parallel lines). Here's a version with the blue background. I'm not sure about the contrast between it and the green line:
Ok, lets try some decorations! But I prefer not to have ornaments at all.

To me the line should be white on dark backgrounds, and blue (shaded plasma blue, like the background) when painted on white backgrounds.
As for decorations, how about gears? kde gears, of course. I'm loving how it's looking! I hope you are not growing tired of us, Lucas

5 gears, of course, for the upcoming KDE frameworks 5.
Just like stars, where the quantity usually has a meaning. (13 european states, 50 US states, etc.)

I prefer the green to maintain a connection with the old logo.
Some ideas: Thanks! No, I'm loving it! It's been a new experience for me and I'm learning a lot with all of you! And my focus here is produce the best work as we can, as a community, not the fastest one, even if we have to go through many, many iterations. Well, since our work is growing I'm sharing the link of the dropbox folder that I'm using. It contains the images I posted here so far and the SVG files that I'm currently working on. When some image link I posted on the forum is broken probably I rename it on the folder, so it's the safe way to look for them. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/panrysvijwxi3z9/SAnSSc2XDj |

Well, I had to edit my posts to resolve the broken links since I renamed the folder.
Anyway, all the images still there so if you missing one just look in the folder directly. |

Lucas, I like the two on the bottom right corner, particularly the big gear one.

Finally, we have different suggestions here! I liked, I think it best fits KDE style than my proposal. It's beautifully shaded! I just don't like the glow in the K as it doesn't resembles a coin. We choose different directions as yours is more 3d and mine is more flat. I think we'll have to wait the Plasma Next style be more clear to make consistent decisions about colors.
I forgot to label the options to be easier to refer them. Considering the diagram below, you mean the C and D options, am I correct? |

Yes, C and D options are the ones I like
About the styles, I think KDE3 was the glossy and realistic one, and KMyMoney had a lot of that in the old icons (the ones you can see in current stable version). KDE SC 4 and probably Plasma Next are going into a more symbolic, flat direction. So, I like that proposal, but I don't think it's where we are heading at the moment.

"As for the Flat vs 3D debate:
[...] we're trying to bridge the divide somehow by allowing for a mix of both. Flat design is the reaction design to 3D design but like any reaction it is slowly becoming less and less relevant, 3D design isn't coming back - but the two will merge in the future" ~jensreuterberg http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=285&t=120084#p304573 I created this logos, having those words in mind... So it's not because I love current design so much As you can see it isn't even glossy, moreover I did this upon flat design above. But honestly, main reason wasn't to compete with @lucashappy logo designs which I like. I've made those, to propose some different idea, thats all |

Very good subject that you pointed out. It's been a little hard to think in the artwork without knowing the visual guidelines of Plasma Next. Of course the KMyMoney can have your own visual direction but we want it to fit the overall style that will be adopted by plasma. I think we'll have to wait the Next proposal to grow more before we can evaluate how much our ideas fit in or not.
In no way we are competitors! I'm sorry if I left this impression. I'm waiting for further ideas, even completely different ones, and I hope that you continue developing your proposal and that we can contribute together. |
