I've been staring myself blind at the logo work of Plasma and KDE related software - not icons (although the majority doubles as icons) - and they tend to swing towards inconsistency. I know Nuno will punch me in the neck for this but I think we should cheat a tad

My idea for the Plasma logo is a simplified cashew without the backstory (Cashew plus three dots representing different backend things, java, Qt and C++ I think) - essentially make on design to be interchangeable and easily molded - something that at base can work as a logo with only one color but that can be expanded to be made into both artwork and tweaked to be made into an icon.
I want to use this for our other jobs to, KDE Frameworks 5, Baloo and Milou.

Here are my sketches for KDE Frameworks 5 they are waaaaay too cramped right now and I should probably skip the whole Roman numeral for 5 using the KDE-K totally and go with the cogwheels alone. (I kinda like the idea of just two interlocking cogwheels tbh)

I love this idea! It speaks plenty of what Plasma NEXT should be about: powered by the latest technology on the inside, sleek and organic interface on the outside. Or as I would like to up it: "Simple and sophisticated".

This "quick sketch" looks very good to me.
As I´m understanding right, you want have this graphic as basis for Plasma and the logos and icons of the projects beneath should have the same look and feel.
Am I right?

Absolutely right! Also bare in mind that since I tend to tattoo things on my left leg whatever ends up as the final logo will probably go there. Just FYI so make it nice

Oooooh nice idea for unification! Should we try to stick to the "Big Planet - Small Moon" motif for visuals?

Btw what if the baloo logo was a sort of mix between a magnifying glass and the circle-dot motif?

Actually I don't know if we really need an icon for baloo logo, though, given that it's only supposed to be an internal name. The public-facing name is just "Semantic Search".

yep, please check with vHanda whether the tech name should be promoted at all. My understanding is that this is not wanted.

Acc. to all the discussions we had (and there were a lot more of those than anyone wanted) the name should not be visible to the user.
