I have now pushed it into the plasma-framework repository, under the folder desktoptheme/breeze/
It can still be renamed, but if so, should be done asap. So please, if anybody has modifications for it, push there, since the ones on my scratch repos would be discarded |

I am all for. "Breeze" sounds ok in my ears and tbh a name is better than no name
(Personally I liked "vellum" because it sounds nice - kinda like the english word "baboon" which also has a nice "chubby" sound to it, so breeze although sharper sounding, is all ok in my book) I'm back now btw. Trying wildly to read up on stuff and sort through the in-tray in my email.

Vellum sounded okay to me until I looked it up and found that I wouldn't like to use a Plasma theme whose name originally meant "parchment made of calf skin". Yes, "paper-like" is one aspect behind the design, but does it have to be made from the skin of a cute baby cow?
So I like breeze more because it carries only positive associations for me. |

In the conversation about HIG via email list Andrew, you posted this one... How would we go about making it happen? Because DAAAAAAAAMN that is pretty!

Shouldn't that go in a different thread? It's not really about the Plasma theme, is it?

Technically, I don't think anything special is required to make that happen Jens. Most everything there can be accomplished with standard widgets. The rest I'm thinking is VDG wheelhouse stuff: Sharing these design ideas with the developer community. Thomas and I talked in passing about reviving the Design Patterns wiki.
Yeah, this probably belongs in the Plasma Next mockup thread or maybe a new visual design patterns thread. Maybe even a "strategies for engaging developers" thread where we could perhaps discuss in a little more the different ways we can positively engage developers of existing apps or even new apps. Holler if you want me to start the thread(s) or anyone else can just start it themselves. Actually, I'll just go ahead and do it. |

As noted a bit ot, but a good idea may be a "design clinic day" on IRC, whre a meeting is had with the developers of one application, and only one for the day. |

after a little talk with Jan Grulich, the networkmanager icons are now in [THEME]/icons/network.svgz the software manager icons [THEME]/icons/software-update.svgz and all that kpackagekit stuff is renamed to software-update too. the muon and apper teams will support this change
now i have to ask about icons like 'document', 'edit', 'go', etc .. there are some in 16px,22 and 32 px. do we need them? or would it be ok to do them just as normal 24*24px icons? |

Where did you push those? (now it's all in the plasma-framework repository, if you pushed somewhere else i'll just copy them over) now i have to ask about icons like 'document', 'edit', 'go', etc .. there are some in 16px,22 and 32 px. do we need them? or would it b
those that have a smaller version was because it was needed. btw, the "normal" size is actually 22x22, not 24x24, that was an anomaly for historical reason in the systray (anow that the x11 icons aren't supported anymore it could be tried to be changed) |

directly into the plasma-framework tree. :s i hope this wasnt wrong...
thats strange, because even for the plasma1 themes, i always made the icons in 24x24, because in 22 they looked blurry. only this "special" icons come with 22px (and 16 and 32). very confusing ^^. i would understand a 16x16px version for some smaller things like a icon on some of the plasma-bottons. and the 22px would be better in 24, because otherwise we had some plasma icons in 24 and some in 22px. the 32px version.. well do we need this somewhere? |

nope, it was perfect
yeah, quite unfortunate :/ the old X11 xembed icons were fixed at 24x24, while the "smallmedium" size in kde always was 22 (in gnome was 24 at some point, don't know how is nowdays) in plasma next at least should take the proper one anyways both if 22 or 24 (if 24 version is 22 with white space around would even be easy to change in the future).
some icons were also used by plasma active, but anyways is not ported yet, so not needed right away. |

Right now its this:
maximum height is 16px, max-width 22px, +(2*1)for the whits boarder in a 24*24px background. that works nicely on the tray and widgets (Jan Grulich was surprised how good the new plasma-nm looks with breeze . it should also fit with the style of the gnome icons. so thats not the problem. i just dont know how things work for do you know any element in plasma2 that required the 16x16 or the 32x32version right now? if not i wont start to work on them and just create a 24x24 one. for plasma-active we can add bigger sizes later, when we need them. i just dont want to create something that isnt used at all ^^ |

this icon will go mostly in buttons and toolbuttons, so afaik only the 16 and 22 versions will be picked (that's the close buttons for things like the widget explorer) fine with me for delaying the bigger ones, also because past vertain sizes they scale well, is only for tiny sizes that being svg doesn't help much |
