Such stunningly beautiful work on this one! Makes me all giggly inside. It's truly fantastic all of the different proposals and work done on this thread. I'm unaware of any rule that says only one cursor theme should be included in the KDE Plasma Workspace. Especially if there's a great selection to choose from. And even beyond what gets shipped, my personal view is that as long as this community is producing great work, it's really the work that matters. Distros can choose their default themes and users can choose their themes. But what's great is all the fantastic visual design work everyone up and down the stack will have to choose from if we keep this up. So yay for friendly, cooperative competition and the exciting work, like this thread, that it produces! |

I hope you can work on that. Overall it really looks good (but more contrast please!) even if it is too fancy for my taste. Btw, if you want to take something from our theme take a look into our repo https://github.com/sirherrbatka/perspective-cursor white is currently worked on, the remaining ones are… drafts.

Now we have a - luxury - problem here: We have two wonderful cursor themes, both of which would be far more than good enough for becoming the default theme for Plasma Next. Of course both can and should be installed with Plasma Next by default, but sadly there can be only one which is selected by default.
It's already noticeable how the sense of competition resulting from this situation has had a slightly negative impact on the "team spirit" in this thread. This is not what we want. We want all of us to happily work together towards our common goal of shipping Plasma Next with a default cursor theme that is both beautiful and usable. Does anyone have an idea how we can reach that goal without any of the designers which have produced amazing work here feeling "betrayed" and frustrated? |

I think it's to soon to worry about it, mostly because all work is under development. sir_herrbatka and I are working on some kind of fusion of our cursors. But as you can see we are open for propositions eg. @legnaVI did fantastic work creating hand cursor and it was instantly merge to the project. So I think it will evolve. Cursor theme which I've made is available for all who like it in such form as I proposed in mockup (second page of this thread), but I don't think it's final work for plasma next. Moreover, I would be happier if default theme would be @Kvers work so far, mostly because it's like a bridge from old plasma to the plasma next. But as I said, work is under development so will see
PS. I truly believe it gonna be the best cursor theme/family(?) in entire DEs world |

I love Kver's theme, which as already said brings KDE into the new theme.
I would ask if black/white lines could be just a tad thicker and with some roundness added in(looking that the resizing icons especially). Something very, very roughly like the bottom one of this? |

As long as everyone understands that being selected as the default cursor theme in the KDE Plasma Workspace is not the only acceptable outcome of work produced here, then all is well I think. There are multiple avenues for the wonderful work produced here to be used. Among those acceptable and desirable outcomes are:
Ok, enough meta-commentary from me, back to the fun design work. |

*puts away flamethrower* But in all seriousness, I just saw this thread after reading a design post on PlanetKDE. I don't usually see too many things where I can just pop in and toss some stuff in the pot; I have a very time-demanding job so it's a bit of a rare opportunity for me to contribute to extended projects - admittedly I tend to jump the gun when I see things like this which don't demand obscene amounts of time. I'd also like to apologise if I did rock the boat - t'wasn't my intent - I was just super-excited
Well said, ++. On another note, I'm probably going to have to step away from this thread for a couple days. I have a large project on the burner at work and it's starting to call for overtime at home. I'll try to at least pop in and keep up though. I already have things I've been taking care of today, so i didn't make very much progress at all; I just pulled the dark black colour from the reference image, and added some of the missing articles. I didn't get the chance flip the colours and create the whtie version this time, and I still want to create a 'thick line' variant too. The source file is attached below, so anyone who wants it can have at it. (disorganised source file / GPLv3)

@Kver
No hard feelings if we copy calligraphy cursor design? |

It woud be my pleasure! There's a link to the raw SVG right below the image if you wanted to directly pull it out of there. But... Could I perhaps... Trade for your skull & crossbones? I like yours guys's better, it's way cleaner.

I think you talk about the file in the black slim dir (i did not create white version so far). It was made by Leroux and i dont think he has anything against it.

I'm glad to see that my worries were obviously baseless. Great to see that the FOSS/community spirit is just as strong in these design matters as it is when it comes to code. Awesome, keep up the great work!

Agreed/Done.
I've been murdering myself over those lines, and I just couldn't find anything I was happy with; In this version I've fallen back slightly to the previous style, and I've been much happier with them so far; input?
I think ultimately I'll have a few different shades, but I did find myself liking the "dark grey" over the "light black" as you've said. I think maybe I'll make 50 shades of grey... Cursors.
That's how I draw, but I prefer internal consistency, so agreed/done.
And I love you, random citizen!
Agreed; there are two new variants in here. Once is a super-simple crosshair, and the other has... uh... "frosted tips"; input?

Next week or this weekend if I can I'll try to convert this over into an actual usable icon set if I can wrap my head around it.
