Yes it sounds like a badly translated Japanese Manga Serial but its a great thing. There's been a lot of talk about using the Awesome Font theme to create a new community "starter pack" for monochrome icons. This could then be given an accessible spot in a resource catalog for other Open Source designers to use, it can be constructed, deconstructed and reshaped to fit new design language and would form a great starting point for future Icon Themes as well as provide dev's with a nice common library of icons to be used in apps.
Whats not to love!? Now Kdeuserk pointed me to this resource: https://www.iconfinder.com/search/?q=ic ... nt-awesome where the font has been remade into Svg's and I think that starting there we can look at what icons are needed, what are missing and more importantly decide "what is the design goals of the icon theme visually?" So what do we need in terms of new icons that isn't covered already? Who is up for some icon sketching?

Well, my icon skills leave a lot to be desired so I'll leave that to those who are better! I am, however, up for turning this into an actual installable theme and document how it was done. As I was the one who mentioned documentation a while back I sort of feel obligated to do it, and to give something back in that regard. Any objections? Though knowing this community someone has probably already done it by know!

Who would ever object to someone stepping up to doing work?
Searching for icon themes with the name or description containing "awesome" on kde-look did not yield anything related to fontawesome, so I assume this was not done yet. |

I'm using Awesome icons for a while now in the Slim Glow plasma theme. People tend to like them.

I would like to help figure out what we still need. So I made a list of all needed icons in the oxygen theme. Now we can start matching Font Awesome icons to our needs.

@verbalshadow:
Nice list! Please put [code] tags around it so that it doesn't take up so much vertical space. EDIT: Since verbalshadow doesn't seem to have been online since I posted this, I took the liberty to add the [code] tags.

We would need a central place where existing icons can be seen, along with their name. It will be difficult to achieve this in this forum, just imagine a preview under each name in the list. I am not sure the forum will handle that.
Any suggestions regarding an online resource that would allow collaborative icon development? It should be list of icons along with a chance to upload icons by different users there and the best icon could be chosen, or less good ones can be improved. Meaning this should look like this: Icon name: align-horizontal-center Suggestions:

Hahaha! Ok Verbalshadow, well done on the list! It's just what we needed (plus maybe the [code]-tags)
Right! Ok so next order of business, I'm setting up a Google Document with that list and then we check them off, one by one and see which are already done! Here's the Google Document: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... sp=sharing It has, as you can see "Done" (Yes/No), "Being Done By Who?", (Fill in if you're working on this icon with your email, or write "Font" if you find it in the Icon link above), "Link to SVG" (a hotlink to the SVG either in the font or where ever you put it when done) I've started looking through the icons now. Everyone join in and we can get this sorted fast Ivan: do you have any pointers or something like a place to put it if you've already done a bit of the work? Kdeuserk: well true... it's not optimal. Hmmm lets start with this so we have something to work on and then we can migrate onward as the work changes? What do you say?

Jens: I have also thought of a google drive document. It is the most sensible approach atm, I think. Only problem I see: How to handle multiple suggestions? Where to leave comments regarding improvements? Maybe this shoule be handled otherwise it will get messy.

There is a number of dublicated icons in the iconset. The filled ones and those with -o in in the name. Which one should we reference in the Link column? I actually referenced both, if that´s OK? |

I added a column saying "Duplicate" (yes write "yes" if the icon has been used before on another area).
If the subject that needs an icon is a duplicate Write "Dublicate" instead of "Y" in the first column and a link to the icon as usual. If you have an idea for an Icon - talk about it in this thread BUT write your name in the "Being worked on by" column - and use your Forum handle. If there is already one there, write your name after that and PM that user here and post your suggestion here in the forums. When the matter is settled we add the icon being used.

Reflection .... We are sure to continue to have sistem tray icons related to the topic of plasma and not to the icon theme? In Ubuntu and Gnome if I'm not mistaken the system tray icons are related to the theme of the main icons. This would solve the problem of compatibility with third-party icons, such as vlc, opera, etc.. Just a thought .... |

When you take icons from fonts, make sure the license of the font is compatible with what you want to publish the icon set under and also make sure to comply with the terms of the license (mentioning authors, ...).
I'm working on the KDevelop IDE.
