One thing I noticed: Don't we have an svg version of the plasma wallpaper? makes me very said the artist wants to keep it for himself .

That is the latest version of the VDG mockup toolkit. You are correct that it doesn't not contain the latest version of the plasma icons. It also is missing some of the latest icons Breeze main icon theme. The toolkit updates that were done were for the UI controls and the layout pattern examples. So, yes the icons do need updating. Updates to include the latest icons would indeed be welcome. Were the icons the enhancements you had in mind?

The wallpaper was created by Nuno Pinheiro. I have no idea if the source was is svg or if it was created in a raster-based graphics application. In any event, please don't assume that the artist wants to keep anything to him/herself. Nuno graciously donated this work for which the VDG is certainly grateful.

Yeah that was one of the enhancements (see the svg I linked in the audio applet thread).

Sorry about the comment of the svg wallpaper request, I did not mean it the way I expressed it, of course Nuno is a great and altruistic artist!

Andrew, how is the contribution to the VDG mockup toolkit coordinated?
I would be willing to provide diffs mainly for updating it (the system tray area is outdated, maybe a few more existing plasma elements could be included, like the systray popup).
If this would be handled like code is, collaboration would be possible like with code: people can provide diffs, discussing the changes and eventually the diff can be applied.

I very much appreciate the progress being made in the this forum, but could we for example somehow encourage people to post svg's along with the embedded preview of the mockups? That would make collaborating and pushing things back into the mockup toolkit much easier.

I personally think the mockup toolkit idea is a great idea, as it very much lowers the burden of getting mockups done and if it was enhanced continually the burden would even get less.

Excellent suggestions kdeuserk. For the moment the mockup toolkit is not under any formal version control. I think it's a good idea for us to get it into a git repo somewhere so folks can submit change requests. I'll add that to our 5.2 todo list.

Till then though, I would encourage folks to just proposed updates here and we'll coordinate getting the changes posted to the HIG. That's pretty much what you said, so if you or anyone has updates, just go ahead and post them here.

A new update to the mockup toolkit is now available. Sorry it took so long. The update includes:

• A non-bitmap wallpaper
• updates to the example systray icons, toolbar icons, and menu button icon to match the Breeze icon theme
• updates to the checkbox and radio button design to match the ones shipped with Plasma 5.1
• switch to svgz from svg

With these changes the size of the mockup toolkit has been reduced from ~4MB to ~200kB. Also the mockup toolkit file is now permanently hosted on the KDE VDG ownCloud instance. The mockup toolkit is available from the KDE HIG here:

Thanks for the mockup toolkit! It is exactly what KDE should have got years back. I was required to make own bitmap version (easier to mockup back then as I didn't need to do everything from the scratch for each mockup).
