No question to strange, to simple or for that matter complex - help each other out and we'll make certain any question gets answered in a nice pedagogical way!

Me! Me! Me! *Waves hand wildly*
![]() So I've taken the bar chart icon from the font awesome set, and want to turn it into a battery. Basically I'm looking to move the little bar and stick it on the outside to make the battery nipple, delete the two middle bars, and copy and past the long bar into the three gaps. The problem is I can't seem to separate the items. I've tried the 'ungroup' option but it's not working, and I've gone into the node view, which looks promising, but still can't get to work. This is a link to the icon for those that want to fiddle: https://www.iconfinder.com/icons/213054 ... n#size=128 ![]() ![]() If I can crack this I should be able to progress further. ![]() |

Ok I tried ungrouping them but damned be but isn't that impossible too... I'm stumped - you're best bet is to click the little node handling tool (the one you have selected in your second screenshot) and click one of the nodes (make it red) and press delete - deleting that node. Then do that for all the nodes you want deleted.
There probably is an easier way - I just can't figure it out right now ![]()

Yes, this is the way to go, but unfortunately it gets a bit more complicated from there. Here's a little guid: Rotate the icon, till you end up with this: ![]() Then select Path → Break apart, you should see something like this: ![]() Now deselect everything and move the two big rectangles a bit to the site. Then colour one of them differently. You should have something like this now: ![]() Now open the Align and Distribute dialogue. Change Relative to to Last selected if you haven’t already. Now select the two biggest rectangles and centre them by choosing Center on horizontal axis and Center on vertical axis. You should end up with this: ![]() You can see that the biggest rectangle is above the red one, to change this deselect everything and then select the big black rectangle, then use the Lower selection to bottom option. It should look like this after that: ![]() Now select the coloured and the big black rectangle and select Path → Difference, which results in this: ![]() Hope I could help ![]() |

Thanks for the comprehensive answer Sogatori!
Not exactly as straightforward as I'd hoped it would be though ![]() ![]() If you fancy helping out with the actual icons the have a look at the github I've just created: https://github.com/my-names-dave/Awesom ... nity-Theme If you run the progresschecker python script it will show you the icons left to do. There's a lot of work to do a still obviously, but it's all good fun though right? ![]() |

In future maybe. I currently have a bit too much on my plate unfortunately. My biggest problem is that I never really paid attention to the thread ( ![]() |

Hello everyone,
yesterday philiphorger made a very good point that my mockup might be problematic for colour blind people. I immediately searched for some way to simulate color blindness in inkscape. I came across this extension which can simulate quite a range of colour blindness cases. My problem however is that I can't get it to work with my Inkscape (probably because of the different version number), so I want to know if this does not work for others too or if it's just a **** up on my side again. Thanks in advance EDITh says: Oh wow, I'm stupid. When dropping the files into the extensions folder they must not reside in another folder. Now everything works fine! ![]() |

Wow, this is awesome! In my ideal world, everyone who does design would use that extension!
Then we'd need to set accessibility requirements for designs (it's okay, for example, if the default color scheme of something doesn't work well for color blind people if they can easily switch to an alternative color scheme that works for them) and could make sure they meet them. |

Hello!
I want to mockup something with mockup toolkit, but here I am total inkscape noob.. can anyone tell me how to use mockup toolkit in inkscape so that I can design mockup by drag and drop stuff..? ![]() Thanks |

bshah, the most important skill for using the toolkit is copy and paste: copy the items you'd like to use from the right hand side and paste them where ever you need them. Then you can drag those pasted items around to arrange them however you'd like.
A video would be pretty cool though. I recommend just open the toolkit in Inkscape and playing around. ![]() |

You have to select your mockup by holding the left mouse button down and draw a big enough box around your mockup. Then go to File → Esport Bitmap. Choose Selection in the upcomming dialogue. From there you can adjust the PDI of the bitmap (90 should be fine) and choose a name. That's it ![]() |
