The problem in Plasma is that the wallpaper is (overly?) complicated. It might be a slideshow, it might be animating, it might be the mandlebrot thing.
Even if you assume it's a flat image you still need to know which activity the user is on to know which activity it's going to be on to know which one to load.

yes, that's what I thought after thinking about it... Is it then possible to add some more options to customizing splash screen ? like, choosing icons from one theme, background from another, etc. ?
