I've been getting problems connecting to it sporadically over the last few weeks. Seems to be working now after the server move.

Hi,

as I know the results from the planet surveys the system settings should use more scroll areas and less (or no) tabs. (http://6pwegu.axshare.com/syse_v1.html# ... art&CSUM=1) So for the single modules this mean more information per page.

Would it be useful to use this concept not only for the moduls, but also for the system settings overview? No we have a 3-deep construction content. when we look at the HIGs (https://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Usabi ... _structure) a navigation with breadcrumb could be useful, but the users don't want to have breadcrumb (http://lcaovd.axshare.com/themes.html).

When I was using the system settings I normally know what I want to change (like icons, window decoration, ...) but I don't know the grouping name where the icons, ... are located. So I use the mouse over feature where I saw the included moduls. The new grouping works quite better than the old one and you did a great job.

If you look at Andrews mockups for the scrollarea he removed the 3. dimension from the navigation in the modul area (http://6pwegu.axshare.com/syse_v1.html# ... art&CSUM=1), that he had a 2-dimension navigation structure.I think, to group all Style modules into one modul only separated via the group function could be an overload for the user. But I think to reduce one dimension to have a 2 dimension system setting app would be a great idea. The navigation would work much better with a sidebar.

The module names are most of the time more well known than the 2. Section grouping so why we don't remove the second grouping. When you see at a new plasma 5 installation there are about 40 modules which are separated into 5 groups and 21 subgroups. There are a lot of subgroups with only one included module.

I made a mockup with 38 modules divided into 6 groups. the app size is 1024x768 px which should be the standard size for kde apps. with this app size you can show maximum 60 modules without scroll bar. I know there are more than 60 modules, but maybe we can reduce some modules.

Windows, Mac OS x, Gnome, ... they all use a 2-dimension system setting system. The user want to change the settings at the system setting app and don't want to navigate through the grouping. Maybe we can make some more main groups. 60 moduls in 6 main groups means 10 moduls per group. and 10 moduls are no that much.

structure of an new plasma 5 installation (kubuntu 15.04)

I like the idea to indicate the actual configuration with the topic (Appearance > Color - "Breeze Dark").

I uploaded the reorganization graph into our cloud (https://share.kde.org/index.php/apps/fi ... 3-ht-2.png). Source of the png is the graphml file from yed.
