Using the Oxygen widget theme and these 2 plasmoids use the same icon

The developers should change the icons they used. The icon is edit-paste and that icon is meant to be used in toolbars as it's in the folder actions/ not as an application icon and it'll look terrible in the new theme as the icons in actions/ will be monochrome. |

I have emailed them about it.

I was thinking about this when I was poking around in the plasma-next beta. Could the widget browser be changed to show a rendering of the widget instead of a generic icon? Something like android does?

I like the idea, but unlike the widget browser in Android which is full-screen the one in Plasma is a only part of the whole screen (a widget stripe I'd say), they would have to redo that part of it I assume. |

We talked about that for a few times now. IIRC, we did decide to do it, but never actually implemented it. Probably because nobody was that enthusiastic for the idea due to the following. It can not be a real preview, but rather an applet-provided screenshot. This is mainly because (1) generating the previews would require creating instances of every applet, (2) whereas a few applets do not show anything meaningful by default - until configured, (3) applets can look differently on a different form-factor (panel, differently sized on the desktop, touch-based devices etc.). Yet, using screenshots would introduce inconsistency between applets, because every author would take a screenshot with his preferred plasma theme, and inconsistency with the environment because the user would use a different plasma theme than the screenshot was taken with. |

Well then they need guidelines that tell them to provide screenshots with the default themes when providing applets. |

I agree. But don't expect those to actually be followed. Unfortunately, we don't have the control (like Apple or others) of what is posted to kde-look. |

Having a little control doesn't hurt. Sounds to me we need an more official Get your Plasma stuff site. |

+1 We have hoped to replace kde-look with bodega, but some things happened... :/ |

First of all, this is the "thing" that happened (since Aaron said it publicly on Google+ as well, I think it should be okay to post it here as well): Aaron Seigo has "officially" stopped doing anything for KDE. Since Aaron was the main driving force behind Bodega, this means currently nobody is working on integrating Bodega into Plasma. That doesn't mean it can't be done, though. Aaron himself said "So if KDE would like to see this project move forward, someone else will have to take it on." Currently, we need that someone. Marco Martin (who was part of the team which originally created Bodega) could provide his expertise, but doesn't have the time to do it alone. |

Ok so I'm in the middle of starting up action groups - essentially the new way VDG is handled with even more openess but more decentralized in a way.
Perhaps a refinement action group would be good for something like this? Essentially a small team who will try to contact plasmoid dev's help them get their presentations of the widgets/plasmoids in order and go through them one by one? Providing their own refinements when needed (screenshots etc)?

Ok so lets introduce the subject to everyone here in its own thread and talk some more about it in a few days (I'm swamped right now)
