So how do I quickly change the year?

1 - More clear separation between the two arrows, therefore less chance of a misclick in wrong arrow in smaller screens or touch PCs,

For about 50th time, the arrows can be made bigger and more apart from themselves, please don't use this as a reason against it.

I didn't make myself clear. I prefer to have the arrows surrounding the month's name as in #New2 than having them side by side as in #New1.

That's a good question. Currently you can't. There is a menu popping up when the header is clicked, I'll see what all we can put in there without overpopulatin it too much.

Hans wrote:Slightly off topic: Personally I also hope to see the year next to the month, like the current calendar, as well as the possibility to show the week numbers.

And again I see that people are way too little looking at already available solutions.... Microsoft Winodows 7 has a great implementation of changing the unit of time.

So let me inspire you:

As you can see one can change the unit by just clicking on it.

When even that's not enough:

All those action include a quite nice zoom-in and zoom-out animation.

What do you think? In my opinion that's an exellent solution ;)

The first time I saw this kind of date picker I was a little bit confused what to do because it is not obvious that clicking on 2014 opens another view. I used the left/right rulers to scroll through years. But actually it makes sense and can be learned.

By the way: 16 minutes to make a few screenshots. I love ksnapshot! ;D

I'm not exatly sure, but I think it was similar for me... Appears some things just need to be learned :P

However of course I'm not saying that we should copy it 1:1. There's always room for improvement. One could for instance make a button of the time unit (maybe on hover) to make users aware.

The possibilities are endless, that's why I think one should always look at alternate solutions and that's why we have this forum... Inspiration is key! ;D

FTR: I just put a patch on review board about mouse wheel to change month since this is something I really miss from 4.x :)

And about the mockups, I like New #1 a lot with the buttons in one place. You don't have your browser back/forward buttons separated by the address bar either. ;)

Sorry guys for a slight offtopic. Is Agenda coming back? I'm talking about event list in 4.*.
I didn't see any mockups or discussion about it so I'm asking.

It's coming back when KDE-PIM is ported to KDE Frameworks 5. In other words: Yes, it will come back, there is just a lot of work to be done until then.

*ping* What happened to this? According to the video posted in this calendar-related review request, the calendar Plasmoid in Master still has the buttons in a separate row, which still looks weird, wastes space and makes interaction more cumbersome.

I'm sure we all agree that any of the ideas you proposed would be better than what we have now, so could someone please change it?

Given I need/want to restructure (from a technical side) the calendar a bit to implement proper keyboard navigation and accessibility, I'd love to get some consent and/or mockups rather soon, so I can implement it during that. o)
Also, I'd be infavor of using proper ToolButtons for the navigation buttons, if the alignment allows it, rather than some handcrafted controls.
