I think the general settings improved greatly from your feedback:

Looks fantastic! I agree with colomar, this kind of attention to details is what makes software feel polished and nice to use.

Just wondering, would it be possible (and in compliance with the HIG) to put some vertical spacing between the different groups of options, e.g. "Show", "Monitor type", and "Update interval"? Here's an example of what I mean from the Redshift plasmoid:

Glad I'm not the only nitpicker here, haha.

myrjola wrote:I'm not entirely satisfied with "Set colors manually". "User defined colors" sounds also very technical. Any suggestions?

I used "Use custom colors" in my previous post (as the opposite of "Use theme colors"), but don't know if that sounds better than "Set colors manually".

The HIG suggests using group boxes or frames for grouping (with the frame basically achieving the same as what can be seen here in the Breeze theme), so yes, it is in compliance.

Ah yes, well spotted! I assume you mean a colon, right? ;)

I think both work equally well.

That's in the latest code. Thanks.
(and thanks Martin for fixing that)

Yeah wonderful, I see we are of one mind. I actually though the the same on my first impression, but didn't want to nitpick even more^^

Lol, sometimes I feel bad about it xD

Actually my dictionary of choice said both is correct (yep I indeed looked it up before posting, lol) o)

The double dot is an element in music notation: "Two dots placed side by side after a note to indicate that it is to be lengthened by three quarters of its value."
The unicode character "double dot" is this one: ߳
So yes, it's a correct translation of "Doppelpunkt", but not exactly what we're looking for here ;) That's why our friendly English developer David didn't know what you meant until I re-translated it to "colon" for him ;)

Oh man, that's embarrassing.
At least now I know where the word "semicolon" comes from :P

I just tried to see the plasmoid in action and run an update on the Neon installation within a VB. But there isn't any sys* or *mon plasmoid included yet, neither in the available list nor provided by the Muon package manager. Since I'm on Arch it might be due to my ignorance of Ubuntu: How do I get this plasmoid running? Only per compiling from source, I'm afraid.

I'm also on Arch but try to search for the kdeplasma-addons package. The quickshare plasmoid is also in the same package, so if you have quickshare then systemloadviewer should be installed too given that the package is fresh enough.

There is not such a package. But there isn't any other when I trust Muon's filter panel ("plasma" -> no result). I installed kde-plasma-addons (with a lot of dependencies) - no success. Anyway, you can show me the result in Brno :)

David just told me they messed up the packaging. It will be fixed with the new ISO this Friday.

That was just for Neon.

Sadly I already had my vacation. No Akademy for me this year, but next time I hope I can attend. I'm sure someone else will be running Plasma5 in Brno, so that you can check the plasmoid out ;)

@Kver and @Nuc!eoN

I had some spare time and implemented the bottom-up filling of the circular monitor as you suggested.

1. Original design (6 o'clock):

2. Asymmetric bottom-up:

3. Symmetric bottom-up:

I like #3. The symmetry makes it more balanced than #2, which is even more distracting in motion because the dark-blue part does shake quite a bit in the CPU monitor. What do you think? Should there only be one circular design available? Or should I change the monitor types to be:
    - Bar monitor
    - Circular monitor (6 o'clock)
    - Circular monitor (bottom-up)

Alternatively present a checkbox to choose the circular monitor type if circular monitor is chosen.

I think simpler is better, so if the grand majority prefers a certain design I think we should only choose it.

Personally, I've been running the circles in my panel and i like the "clock" format.

With version 2 it's harder to see the important information (application memory usage, not cache usage) you have to find two points that are moving and then guess the angle.
Version 3 fixes that problem, but instead is quite ... unusual.

We might be at a point where we're at diminishing returns with this plasmoid and we probably want to bring some of the others to this level of completeness.
