Recently myrjola was looking for the design guideline for color picker [1]. A suggestion was made by anditosan that can be found here: https://dribbble.com/shots/1378722-MB-C ... nts/198336.
Do we need a separate page for color pickers? Can we define the design independent from the Breeze theme? I'd say it has to be a dropdown with a circular shape filled in the current color. On expanding the drop down it shows a couple of predefined colors (I guess system colors, which might be too much otherwise), and on click the color dialog opens. A selection of up to eight predefined colors can be shown right-hand (left in case of RTL) of the drop down for fast access. Though it might be confusing why there are two presets. The dropdown could have been meant as some kind of command button to open the dialog directly. In this case the expand icon makes no sense, IMHO. |

Thanks Heiko for the idea. Maybe I can come up with a design idea for the color picker window too. I only thought about the buttons. Would that be ok on this thread?

I want to add the krita colour picker. I don't use it, but when you link to osx and Windows I want to link to a paint KDE app |

I replied to the blog post, basically with the idea to have a very simple color chooser (it goes in the same direction as Jarosław suggests in Beyond the color pickers).
When the dialog design is finished we should discuss HIG specific question too: How to access the picker? Do we allow to have a (colored) button/panel/link that shows the dialog on click? If we have different versions, when to show the chooser and when the picker? What happens on color change (immediately update)? etc. |
