KDE needs to take into account bigger fonts also when designing applications’ UI, for the sake of general better usability as well as people who have trouble reading smaller fonts.

Basically I just wanted to let you know about this idea on Brainstorm and hope it can be turned into a sensible HIG rule.

Research says "Research has shown that fonts smaller than 12 points elicit slower reading performance from users. For users over age 65, it may be better to use at least fourteen-point fonts."

So yes, the standard font size of 10pt for content as defined in the typography HIG might be a bit small. I'll talk to Andrew about it.
Users who need bigger fonts can change the default and minimum font sizes in System Settings. What we should do, though, is test UIs with larger fonts and see if they still work and look okay, so that people can set their fonts to larger sizes without breaking anything.
