Hi!
I'm David Gil, Frameworks contributor and KCompletion maintainer. Some weeks ago, Aleix Pol told me that KEmoticons [1] couldn't manage unicode emoticons and therefore strange squares appear when someone sends a unicode emoticon to a KDE Telepathy user. Aleix suggested me to include unicode emojis parsing capability to KEmoticons. Then we discovered that the Glass theme has very few emoticons, far away the number needed to supply equivalences to the unicode emojis. Therefore, KEmoticons needs a complete theme to be able to manage the unicode emojis. Sadly, there's no free theme available. The Phantom project [2] tried to provide one, but they have had many legal problems with the contributors and the emoticons they have right now don't have a free license [3]. In [4] you can find a table of unicode emoticons. I think that priority should be given to the most used (which I can't really determine). Anyone wishes to help with it? Thank you in advance David Gil [1] http://api.kde.org/frameworks-api/frame ... index.html [2] https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/37 ... open-emoji [3] https://github.com/Genshin/PhantomOpenE ... Now that you mention it: We don't have a Breeze emoticon theme in general, so yes, that needs to be done. I just put it on our task board.

Hi guys,
I will work on the Emojis, but first I need your feedback. There are two possibilities. 1. Yello Theme First I have to start making a nice layout and than I think I can use the different elements quite often, so it would be much easier than the konqui theme 2. Konqui The konqui theme costs a lot of time, I don't know if it is to detailed for emojis and I don't know it it looks well with the breaze theme. Which icon size is standard (32x32). |

I like the first theme because of it's simplicity and being easy recognisable. Also it fits into Breeze quite good I think.
If truth be told I don't like the Konqui at all - it's just too corny |

Konqui is to corny , but you have right, it doesn't fit in size (to detailed) and type (not flat). I start with the Emojis Type 1 and the Konqui will be sended to the workspace team. Maybe they can use it for the user account picture. |

If someone like to use the konqui icons, feel free you are welcome https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/164 ... Konqui.svg

I agree that Konquis would not work as the default emoticon theme, but It would be totally awesome to have one available for those who like it!

The Konqui heads would make great avatars though!

Yeah. I send the svg file Aaron. Maybe the plasma team will use it for the user avatars. We will see. And thanks davidwright. |

Is there a reason why emojis are tilted?

The mental rotation is getting really exertive with more complex icons. Please consider to use faces in normal orientation (that makes it easier to read especially for right-to-left readers). By the way, Asians uses ^^ for Smileys. Is it possible to create another set to cover cultural specifics? |
