Well i really(probably repeating my self ) like the old opera UI(it's well thought). So i like the direction that you're going
Since their product is almost dead i'll finally have something to migrate to. Short description: 1) "Global" folders, mails from all accounts are visible in here 2) Label list 3) Attachment list - messages are sorted by attachment 4) Mail accounts with there own folder structure(+imap) 5) RSS Feeds Uploading it for inspiration purpose |

All kudos go to mbohlender! Actually I'm more or less comfortable with KMail. Like most of us, I guess. If we design a different layout it should IMHO be the opposite to what we have because it has to fit a different use case. Or am I wrong and the intention is to replace KMail/Kontact? So one step back: Who will use NewMail, for what purpose, and in which situations? |

Kontact is a business-grade PIM suite, with all the complexities that business users need. For most personal email users, that is complete overkill. So for NextMail (the current codename), the aim was to offer people a client for personal e-mail use, which is "Simple by default, powerful when needed". Not as powerful as KMail, but for example we want to support folders and maybe even filters on demand for those who need them. But yes, good point, we should really write down a proper vision very soon! |

In the course of getting my dad to start using Linux I had to find a simple e-mail client.
Looking around a bit, I was very much impressed by Yorba’s/Gnome’s Geary. While for my taste it’s not powerful enough, it’s well worth giving it a whirl to see how a simple, pretty and usable an e-mail client can be.
It's time to prod some serious buttock!

I agree that having a beautiful, simple by default, yet powerful when needed E-Mail program is probably one of the most important things missing from KDE. With KMail coming to KDE Applications 15.08 and having been ported to QT5, I hope there'll be some more activity in that direction as well
Don't get me wrong, KMail is fantastic, but it lacks the shared vision of the VDG.

I have good news for you. The KDE PIM team is currently working on a vision alongside with removing obsolete features for maintenance reasons. I hope we have something to share publicly after the Randa meeting. |

That does indeed sound very nice. Good luck!
