That said @colomar had some ideas about getting more developers interested in working on a unified communication manager.
I would be willing to work on the UI part if enough developers commit to such a project.

Yeah, let's explore the idea of a unified communication manager a bit further from the design perspective, but we should not get people's hopes up until we have the commitment of the developers necessary for such an effort.

Usually, the vision comes from the manufacturer of a product, with no need to ask someone if the idea is good or not. But in case of mailing all users know the core functions at least, got exposed to more or less working programs, and have individual workflow. To me it's not that obvious if all/most users want the unified experience, or even another client than KMail. But I understand your point. Whether or not you find more developers, in my opinion we need to know the direction to think about UIs that make sense. Personally, I would start with the simple thing (and keep NextTalk for another project).
