Sorry I meen something like gnome-sushi or klook (http://ext4.wordpress.com/2012/04/09/kl ... se-entera/), but I think with an easy to use app for each file (music, video, pictures, pdf, ...) it would be work better. |

I think CD/DVD burning is becoming less and less important -- of course people still do it, but I don't think it's central to a desktop experience anymore. I would not include it at this stage. Of course if someone wants to work on it, I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I don't think it needs to be a priority. |

CD/DVD burning might be less relevant, but many people do need that feature. Like me, for example. I am often required to send a CD/DVD of my work for scholarships.. I use K3b, but it is really ugly. I would really appreciate a facelift: for example using system notifications instead of its own ugly blue/white bar, easier to use GUI (navigation on the left, current projects on the right) |

Perhaps a simple action in the file manager would cover most of the use cases. A specialized application (K3B) could then be used for more advanced (and more rare) uses. |

Can I also add that since I don't use it (don't have a CD/DVD player), I have no idea how it should be handled and I don't wanna spray-and-pray it since that might end up weird. So suggestions are more than welcomed

So worlds quickest doodle mockup for a Notesharing application. The idea being that it would use Email + KDE Connect to sync notes and clips between devices and a way to organize simple reminders with the capacity to share dates and warnings to the calendar so that you could get calendar warnings for certain notes.
This is just a very very very much WIP mockup for the focused notebook view btw. Mostly just throwing things at the screen to have some stuff in there. Need to make it look nice too which is the tricky bit I suppose In short the idea is that you write a note, you can add it to a Notebook if you want, its just simple html editing for text. Then you can sync devices so that when you leave you have your notes on your phone, so you can keep editing them on the phone, or check out some weblink or something. Then resync via email so that you have your notes at home when you start the application at your computer AND you're supposed to be able to set up sync between groups of users so that you can sync in a workgroup.

WTH. I didn't write that. My account must have been hacked. On another note. Awesome note taking app. I have just started using Kjots, and it feels a little clunky. You might want to take a look at http://getspringseed.com/ That kind of layout works great IMO, and could be more consistent with NextMail. |

Hehehe looking at it already
Will soon post more things for it. Out of curiosity couldn't it do the same thing with something like Pastebin? Say send the pastebin link over to email or a shared dropbox-like equivalent?

Jens,
Just an idea sparked by your previous post about the note taking app (& a little off-topic so apologies). In that post you said that the note taking app could sync over KDE Connect so that note would appear on (and could be edited on) your phone. That would be great and could be done to the other apps you're talking about like email, calendar, photo 'backup' etc all over the LAN etc - without any data going near the cloud. I've got an Android phone & keep my life 'organised' using Google Keep (for taking notes), Gmail & Google calendar on my phone, they sync to the Google's cloud and i can access them on the browser on my KDE desktop. If the same thing could be achieved avoiding Googles (or anyone else's) servers using KDE connect etc then that would be something to get excited about - and might be a good selling point for KDE. I'm not doing anything illegal, but would like a little more privacy than all of my data being transferred to Google - i'd rather keep it to myself! |

That sounds amazing, and would make kdeconnect very powerful. |

Grumpy old man hopping on....
I have worked on too many projects that never became real. I had to learn how limited my time is and how important it is to see things I do come alive to keep the spirit. I personally came to the conclusion, that I will not work on projects anymore, when I do not have a developer backing from the beginning. You should consider to reconsider the method of attracting developers. I guess there is a more efficient way to handle the restricted design resources we have, In my experience making some apps great, will get developers of other app attracted... |

Whatever ken300, we all know you and your sock puppet avatar are up to no good, why else would you secretly want to share notes between your PC and phone?? Only kidding. This is most definitely the current trend so KDE should be marching in this direction fo' sho'. Gwenview has a very nifty 'Share' button that mimics that of the Android share function. I wonder whether that could be expanded upon and this functionality rolled into it. So rather that having a separating syncing function, we could have a combined share 'n sync one. We could then have a central location to keep tabs on each file as to what we have shared and sync'd it to. |

You must have missed the thread which discussed the 'Freedom Beer' bus, the blindfolds, a country and western CD, a cave, weeping, and, strangely, a rusted can of WD40. Only joking ... there was no can of WD40 involved. The mockups that have been posted are doing the rounds on G+ and are getting a lot of positive response from what I've read, even in Gnome circles which is an achievement in itself. Hopefully if we can continue the momentum, and maybe put some development spin on the some of the updates (where to go to help, what to read to know what to do to help etc.) then we can attract some interested devs. I'd offer to help, but currently my knowledge is restricted to the first couple of chapters of the qmlbook.org so I'm not sure I'd be much use to you, unless you need an image in a rectangle that is. |

All the designs Jens has posted already do have at least one developer committed to working on them. We don't want to design for the drawer, either |
