Hi Andreas,

can you please use f(x) in xy-equation-curve.svg? (just add brackets).

Does it make sense do prepare a black-white version of your icons to use together with the oxygen icons?
I mean, our old icons are mostly also black-white... Now we would have better looking icons that can
be used with oxygen. And we'll be consistent regarding the overall look of the icons when switching to breeze.

Hi,

I also want to change the colour because the breeze icons also have no colour. So yes, I'll work on the LabPlot icons in the next days (nights). And thanks for the feedback.

I build labplot from source via the compile file. when I start the labplot2 file from /build/src I don't get the icons from the /src/pic folder where I copy the new icons. where I have to put the new icons when I made the app from source?

thanks

You need to install the application first so the rc-file and icons etc. get copied to /usr/local/share folder. Please do

cd build
make install (as root)

I am searching since two days (night) to find the breeze icons on kde4. they are not on /usr/share/icons/ and when I use /.kde/share/icons/breeze it also does not work. where are the breeze icons which will be used from the application. or where are the application specific icons when I build it with the compile file.

please help me

What do you mean by "breeze icons on kde4". Do you mean your icons you created for labplot and put them to src/pics?
When you do 'make install' they land in /usr/local/share/apps/LabPlot2/. This path is added by KDE to the "default path" during the startup of the application.
In the code an icon is requested by e.g. KIcon("x-zoom-in"). If nothing is found in the currently used icon theme in the default path /usr/share/icons/default.kde4/,
then other, program specific, directories are used to look for the requested icon.

To get breeze (or breeze-like icons) on kde4 I installed the dynamo icon theme.

I'm not finished yet. First screenshot for the breeze theme as it look's not so gut in Oxygen I'll look also to oxygen. AND as you can see there are a lot of icons, so I'll hope you have no problem that I'll also write something about the standard icons and the Manue.

That looks already great! No, I have no problem at all with that :-)

May be you can put the toolbar for the plots to the left hand side like here
http://www.asinen.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/tabbed_view.png
so you have more place and see more icons with smaller window sizes.

I've got one more question. We use two icons from oxygen "applications-education-mathematics" and "preferences-desktop-font" which, by chance, look like something we want to have at this place. But I think for other icon themes they can look quite differently. Can you have a look at this use case? Please create a "xy equation curve" (there is an icon in the toolbar for this) and you'll see two buttons beside the text field. The first button is for the dialog where user can select all supported functions. The second is for all supported mathematical and physical constants. So, we need icons for "functions" and "constants". Does it make sense to try to create neutral, say icon theme independent, icons for this? Or should we stick with "applications-education-mathematics" and "preferences-desktop-font"?

Using icons because in Oxygen they happen to look like the ones you need is never a good idea, precisely for the reason you mentioned. It is okay to reuse existing icons if they fit, but then they should be copied or symlinked to one with a semantically correct name.

See the screenshot. I'll hope you like the breeze icons.

I also have a breeze application icon.

what is finished:
- the pi icon is also made as toolbar icon
- application icon
- nearly every icons for Labplot

what is missing:
- one "wrong" icon office-chart-area. I'd use office-chart-line because there is no area function for the charts
- at spreadsheet and residuals there is used no toolbar icon. which icon is used for that?
- the mouse icon for navigation but this is a standard icon so it will be updated in future.
- ask Uri to put the icons into the standard breeze icon theme

you can test the icons https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/164 ... -11-02.zip

Andreas, thank you a lot for you work! I'll ask you later some questions about what is still to do. Let me please ask you two other questions

1. Can I mention you in the "authors" section of LabPlot as the (icon) designer? If yes, please provide you first name, last name and email.
2. Which icon set are you using on your desktop?
