I know the Boot theme but I thought we talk about a grub skin and kubuntu don't habe a breeze grub skin. there is only a text mode for grub.

I only mentioned the bootsplash as an example of something where distros might want to use their own theme for branding but we did a Breeze theme anyway |

AFAIK none of the -buntus have a grub theme. Kubuntu might be interested if somebody comes up with something nice. Arch, Gentoo users also might be interested. Opensuse and Fedora do have grub themes, but again, if the proposal is really good, who knows.
On another note, about the bootsplash, if we want people to start referring to Plasma as Plasma, we might want to start using the plasma logo or the name "Plasma" for these kind of things, instead of the KDE one. |

Yes, you're absolutely right! |

I've noticed that certain publications are referring to it as KDE Plasma 5. Which I think is a nice compromise. Works also when you think of apps like KDE Connect, which should really be called Plasma Connect. |

That is looking really good! I like the idea. At openSUSE however, we are always changing the Grub theme. Maybe if we shipped our own KDE distribution, it would make sense. There are however some distributions that take everything vanilla. So there might be a good sector to tailor to there.

You at openSUSE change the default wallpaper and Plasma theme as well, though, don't you? The last time I tried openSUSE, apart from the widget and icon themes, pretty much all visual assets were customized. That's why for me there isn't much of a difference between the GRUB theme and the Plasma theme or wallpaper or display manager theme or...: Most distros change either everything which can be changed with reasonable effort, or nothing. |

Sorry for bringing this up again. The designs look really nice, but I was wondering, wouldn't it be nicer if it were similar to the sddm theme, the login animation, and the lock screen? That way we would have a consistent look from grub to the desktop.
In plasma 4 there used to be a grub 2 configuration kcm. Are there plans of bringing something like that to plasma 5? Could a grub theme be integrated in a "look & feel" package? |

don't say sorry. It is on my todo list, but now I was working on LO icons, application icons, ....
with the consistent theme you have right. The style and behaviour should be the same. |

I meant sorry for nagging. I assumed you guys have a lot on your plates already. Great to hear that this is planned. Thanks!

Another thing to consider for the sake of consistency is the "pacing". Right now we boot to the sddm theme which is similar (although not quite exactly like) the lock screen and the login animation. When we enter our password, the login animation consists of the two bars from the login screen appearing from two different directions. To me that doesn't make sense. The animation is very nice, but it doesn't take into consideration that those bars were already there just a moment ago in the login screen. There should be a logical order. If we go with those appearing bars, maybe they should show up as a plymouth thing, and then disappear with the login animation. Or try to come up with something different. Users don't care that from the moment they start the computer half a dozen different parts go into motion. They (or at least I) expect a unified and coherent experience from boot to the desktop.
Same thing with logout and shutdown. Maybe Plymouth should also be considered? |

I just made a few really rough mockups based on the sddm theme.
