Hi,
I recently tested the Kubuntu plasma 5 preview, and I noticed that there are some annoyances that I also had with KDE4. I tried to search using the search function whether there was anything like this yet, but I didn't find anything. Whenever I do a clean install (both for KDE4 and the plasma 5 preview), I notice that there are scrollbars everywhere cluttering the view. This is especially noticeable for Dolphin, where the Information panel, the Places panel and the main view often all have a scrollbar. While window sizing itself is an issue for many applications (e.g. in the system settings in KDE4 where every module seems to show up in a window that's just too small causing it to have scrollbars), I have the idea that it would be better to avoid having many scrollbars in the first place. Wouldn't it be a better idea to avoid scrollbars in general whenever possible, leaving them only for viewport-like components (such as the file view itself)? I'd argue that side panels should auto-adapt their layout to prevent them from ever needing scrollbars. For the Dolphin case: - I would think that the Information panel could be improved: There seems to be some padding between the preview and the information that doesn't get reduced until after a scrollbar appears. It would be better that this padding would go first, followed by a reduction in preview size. - Similarly, the places panel could possibly be improved by making the Places, Recently accessed and Search for panels collapse once the panel becomes too small. Or possibly by turning less used options into dropdowns. |

Are you able to reproduce the problem and share a screenshot with the forum? That would go a long way.
