♫Deck the halls with boughs of awesome♫
In time for Christmas Aleix Pol and I want to make a themed animated wallpaper. On Plasma 5 we can make quite advanced interactive wallpapers, like: https://vimeo.com/102484280. Naturally being a heavily graphical project we'd love to let you guys get involved. It wont be anything serious, just something a bit different a bit showcase-y and hopefully a lot of fun. We can go with something grown up; or something cheesy and cartoony. I'm not sure, I don't want to dictate anything at this point. We were going to get together next weekend (23rd) and put together some QML. That gives a week to gather ideas and assets and then another week afterwards to do any cleanups. Things we have easy access to: - making shapes/images - particle effects (i.e falling snow...or smoke rising from a chimney) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuvAK7X4g-Y - sprites (early gaming animation technique) http://opengameart.org/sites/default/fi ... /Santa.png - audio - differing behaviour on dates (i.e we could make an advent calendar) - clicking/dragging whatever. If you could do it with flash, it's doable here. If people can propose some artwork and descriptions of how they want things to interact we can turn it into something that works. Shout if you're interested; ideally with mockups/artwork. |

Since I'm gonna meet up David and Aleix tomorrow and for the rest of the week I would love to be in on this AND I can assure you (whomever) got cool ideas I can make them do it
This is a brilliant fun idea and well worth getting going on.

The advent calender sounds like a good idea. It could also be turned into a promo event as well, as we could have a different aspect of the KDE community / software behind each door (maybe made into a little scene?), a video of which could be shared on G+ etc as the days tick over. If you see what I mean?

Ok after some talk this last week the premise is this:
Essentially an animated wallpaper along the style of "christmassy image" with snowflakes (yes its cheesy but its christmas not some arthouse event), then simple christmas calendar "doors" you click on that opens and display some interesting and fun little internet thing. Like a nice little surprise ever day up until christmas, perhaps a good webcomic to read if you're home visiting your folks and need something to do, or maybe a good compilation of catvideos or a nice browser game. Something that doesn't demand a massive amount of effort from the devs or us (baring in mind its, what a few days left so deadline looming?)
