This year KDE is taking part in Google Code In. See http://www.google-melange.com/gci/docum ... about_page
Basically students aged 13-17 do some jobs, and get expereince in open source and aim to win some super prize. We, as KDE need to come up and mentor with some tasks in the following categories: Code: Tasks related to writing or refactoring code Documentation/Training: Tasks related to creating/editing documents and helping others learn more Outreach/Research Tasks related to community management, outreach/marketing or studying problems and recommending solutions Quality Assurance: Tasks related to testing and ensuring code is of high quality User Interface: Tasks related to user experience research or user interface design and interaction Tasks should be ~1-2 hours long and can cover a range of skill levels. Thomas P has led some usability research tasks in previous years, which I think turned out to be very useful. If anyone on here could help come up with and mentor tasks it will be really really useful. Maybe designing a specific icon, reviewing some app for inconsistencies, HIG reviews, something more... I can help with any admin/communication. |

KDE is counting on us especially for User Interface tasks. Those are basically the things we're doing here regularly, so it should be easy to turn some of them into GCI tasks.
Plus, if you mentor, you get a Google Code-In Mentor t-shirt you can show off to your friends and wear at tech events |

Hi David,
it would be a pleasure to be a Mentor for some GCI tasks. As the contest starts today. Where is the task page and how we connect to the people. I only have to say that before Christmas I'm very busy in my job, but in 3 weeks I have a lot of time. so I hope it was ok, when I have now less time. My work is icon design so my task would be Breeze Icons for: - Breeze Icon theme - LibreOffice - Inkscape - KDE-Education apps - ... |

head to google-melange.com, register as a mentor.
Then click "create task" We can keep creating tasks throughout the event, so maybe add one or two icons and see how it goes. |
