Structure of the modules
- Header - Description - Preview - Selection - Simple settings (advanced settings via button, additional user input) Desktop Theme The user have to select the desktop theme, and will be finished. If the user want to configure some parameters, the configuration button on bottom can be used to go to the configuration page. The Header, Description and Preview is still the same, because the user have to know which Selection will be configured. Window Decoration Still the same than desktop theme. there are two configuration button. Account There is no preview and selection area. only informations will be shown. with import additional online accounts can be configured. This is a design preview of the system settings modules layout. About the navigation in the side panel there is an addition thread viewtopic.php?f=285&t=124463 |

Look great !
I don't understand how to come back to the list when the theme editor is open. Some wouldn't even think they can do it. Since many modules will have that kind of "advanced" tab, a common navigational pattern should be thought of.
"Add" here would be much better than "Import". And there should be a "Remove" button too. Louis |

About this KCM would love that one day was implemented directly in Calamares (similar to Win 8 so obviously optional), and that would integrate well with Muon with the possibility in the case of new installation with a click to recover all connected applications account, of course, to set up in one fell swoop, Kontact, Thelepathy kde etc. Obviously this is off-topic but I did not know where to say it: P |

The current module for Instant Messaging and VoIP with the options Account and General was classified into Network > Connectivity. Basically devs will have a problem when we mix options from different KCMs. From a usability POV it makes sense, perhaps we should think about some kind of registry (all options in one place/file/database) to get the maximum flexibility for the GUI.
I don't like the idea to configure theme details and to air'ify for instance my Breeze desktop scheme. It feels like having more options hidden behind this selection. I mean, first I choose Oxygen as my 'megatheme' (and get all appearance settings accordingly). Then I go to theme and change it to Breeze, so all theme options are Breeze instead of Oxygen. And my third modification is to change the panel background into Air (without a preview). I feels not right to have just a dropdown selection. Good work, Andreas! |

Pro tip: Don't mention the word "registry" outside a Windows-related forum. You might attract the wrath of both devs and advanced users Also, this is the developers' space, not ours. We just propose a GUI and ask them whether it's implementable or not (and perhaps what would need to change in order for it to be implementable). |
