The icon that was used in the panel was something like an fallback icon cause it was the wrong icon for the panel. So I would say it's an bug at the applicaion. This mimetype icon shouldn't be in the panel. And application and system tray icons you can see in front of the blue background. |

I will have a look maybe we can improve the behavior. In addition I read the feedback that the new battery icon is way better than the old one because you can see much better how much battery you have. |

@andreas_k: I could be wrong, but isnt this an icon *KDE* uses if it can't find an application icon? If that's the case, then it's definitely KDE at fault here.
I can't show you anymore, because Breeze-Classic disables (?) the new themes, but the blue shade has almost the same color as the Dolphin icon. Low contrast UI is bad from a usability standpoint and this new release suffers from low contrast in quite a few places (the new icons are a severe downgrade in this respect, for instance, where you can barely see the off-white lines in the center of the new icons). |

There was a bug in the theme package, try removing the theme and reinstalling it again. Then you should be able to switch between both.

I was pretty surprised that all of a sudden I had so many colored icons again.
In the application launcher I think it's okay (although I much prefer monochrome icons), but in other places I really dislike it. For instance I have a nice monochrome notification/tray area and then right next to it there is suddenly a colored "Show Desktop" applet. My file listings in Dolphin also look pretty strange. The file icon size is 22px, so most files and folders are monochrome, but then in between there are suddenly some colored ones (i.e. those with special icons and those with content previews). I also don't get why the lock screen suddenly has to have colored icons. I prefer my user avatar to be the only colored pictogram. But what I especially dislike is the actual coloring of the "New Session" and "Change Session" buttons. They consist of grayish pictograms on light-green or light-purple background which again are on a light-gray background. Not only does it look like someone accidentally exported the original SVG icons as JPEG without transparent background, it also provides little to almost no contrast. The previous monochrome icons looked a lot nicer and provided much better contrast. |

I have to add to my posting above: there are also problems with the small "Reboot" and "Shutdown" buttons on the display manager theme.
They used to be monochromatic and quite distinguishable. Now they are colored and it is really hard to discriminate the two icons. The only way to tell them apart is the color itself (red and blue where blue is probably reboot), but it's really hard to recognize the actual icons. They are way too small for inverse colors (i.e. light-gray on colored background). |

I suggest to file a bug at bugs.kde.org, either product Breeze or plasmashell/Theme Breeze.
