Krita icon

Wed Jan 13, 2016 1:37 pm
Hi,

I have a little request from the krita team for the VDG and the people making Breeze icons.

But first, big thanks to all of you, you make generally a great work, and I was happy to integrate lot of breeze icons in Krita!

Though, our problem is about the application icon. See, it's an important part of Krita's visual identity, so we really want to keep the official icon inside Krita. The problem is on linux systems where the breeze krita icon is installed by default, it replaces our version (ok it can happen with other themes, but I care especially about the default in plasma..). And looks like everyone in the team on IRC expressed a strong preference for our original icon.

Note that it won't be a problem anymore from 3.0, as we directly load it from qrc there. But for latest 2.9, which will probably be shipped in several distributions, this is a problem.

So as a workaround, I renamed the icon for next 2.9 to calligrakrita2, and kindly ask you to consider our request to not update the name of the krita icon in breeze (or remove it as you prefer).

I know that our icon can be refreshed to be a bit sharper and I'm working on it for 3.0, but keeping the linear-blended colors and the global shape as much as possible as our visual identity that people are used to.

I can also remove the icon from breeze-icons cause you are the dev of the app. in general I am not a big fan of hardcoded icons, cause it destroy the global look and feel but for krita it's ok cause you have to much icons.
