KDE Developer

Heya,
writing my mail down as forum post. Here you go: I'm starting to get mad at KDevelop's welcome page looks horrible in my eyes. Notes: * It's the one that pops up in KDevelop if no other tabs are open * Develop section ** Has a few project-related buttons (open, fetch, ...) ** Shows the list of currently available sessions * Getting Started ** Shows a list of pages where to get help + links the handbook ** (With a quite useless read-only web viewer...) * It's QQ2 / Plasma Components based, so hacking it is straight-forward. Screenshot (hold your breath): http://wstaw.org/m/2016/01/11/kdevelop-welcomepage.png (the green-ish screen in the middle) Maybe someone's got some time and wants to play around with it? Lots of things which can be improved there, not just the coloring... The "Getting Started" section is just as bad... Something to keep in mind: * I think we want the view to be "less intrusive", less colorful * We're also happy to get rid off Plasma Components if you think we don't need them Cheers Kevin

Hello,
as already mentioned in irc, I would recommend to resolve the 2 level navigation structure. "Getting Started" contains only 4 Buttons with links to Techbase, Userbase, Kdevelops website and to the manual. kfunk sid on irc he likes the design og the qt-creator startpage http://www.heise.de/imgs/18/1/9/9/5/6/8 ... 5266b5.png and I don't see any reason why kdevelop could not use a startpage styled very similar to qt-creator. I would recommend to replace the "Getting Started" with the links to "Technbase" "Userbase" "Kdevelop Website" and the "manual". |
