Help needed with Minuet Mobile UX

Wed Jun 01, 2016 2:15 am
Hi there,

We have a GSoC student working on a mobile version for Minuet [1] and it'd be really helpful if someone from VDG could follow the project and provide some guidance regarding UX. We're trying to get some inspiration from https://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Usability/HIG but, of course, some experienced help would be quite awesome.

So, anyone is up for that? :)

VDG's communication went mainly to Telegram [1]. That's why you didn't get a reply here, which is a shame. I'd really like to help but all the mobile stuff around Kirigami seems to be kind of work in progress. First application done in this style is Subsurface [2], maybe that's helpful as a visual. And since all discussion is done in the Telegram chat, which absolutely doesn't fit into my workflow, you better ask @colomar or @alexl (don't know his alias here for sure).

Hi Heiko,

The invites in [1] are broken. Any other link to join the chats?

Thanks,
Sandro

No idea how the invitation works. Perhaps you have to be an admin to invite someone. I pinged @colomar to take care of your question.

Kind of offtopic, but in my opinon telegram is really not an acceptable way to communicate in an oss project. There is no way to register afaik without providing your phone number, and I won't provide mine. So I stopped working with/for the vdg instead ...

Hi Sandro,
it's great to see that there is another KDE mobile application in the works!

The VDG will love to help with the design, but with one caveat: When the VDG does mobile apps, we do Kirigami, not Material Design.
If you want to do Material Design, you're out of VDG territory.

If you decide to do Kirigami, first of all there is the new Kirigami HIG. It's still rather in its infancy, but it is what counts for mobile apps.

Thank you for inform us about the invalid Telegram invite links. It seems like they have a limited lifetime, which we were not aware of.
In any case, you can also just join #kde-vdg on IRC which is synced with our main Telegram group.

I have no particular preference for Material Design. Kirigami is a KDE project and as such I'm totally willing to push it forward.
