Hello,

I am a Windows and Mac user.

I don't know exactly which limitations it currently Krita has at Mac OS, I know that supporting several platforms is a very time consuming task (although using QT, there are always platform specific code).

I would like to suggest, if it can be done a bit more detailed documentation that explains which features aren't implemented in Mac. Maybe the Mac build isn't too recomended and it isn't worth to do that.

I also would like to know if there are plans to support Mac OS in the near future.

Thanks,
Nicolas.

From this thread:https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=137&t=123362

* OSX: the OSX port is experimental and needs work to be ready for end users:
* port remaining dependencies (HDR painting, optimizations)
* fix OpenGL
* fix popup palette (currently now shown when OpenGL is enabled)
* implement Wacom support to replace Qt's built-in tablet support.
* polish gui inconsistencies
* fix resource handling

This needs six months of dedicated development, so about 30,000 euros.

We'll be having a funding campaign soon enough.

I just downloaded Krita to my Mac desktop--it's running Yosemite (10.10)--the mac itself is an iMac year 2007 so it's an old warhorse but runs just fine. I am also running Mischief on it if you are interested since it's a comparable piece of software as well a Manga 5EX and all the other graphic toys we all know and love.

It's true that Krita is unstable--it freezes my system and I have to restart--looks like you have an autosave function which is very sweet because Yosemite is able to restart and pick up where I crashed and i can just go on. Very annoying but do-able.

NOW

Why do I keep trying? I have Mischief--I love Mischief but I did some quick doodles on Krita and I immediately fell in love with the flow and feel of this software. I like the layout--it works fine with my wacom. Life Mischief, it utilizes vector graphics and so I have an infinite canvas. I could not tear myself away from it. I was mesmerized by how fluid my session was--and then boom--my mac died and rl intervened as I pushed the restart button.

SO

I'm willing to help anyway I can with the Macinization --sorry that I don't have 30,000 euros but this software screams to be on a MAC. I do have it on my pc and I will content myself for the time being but in the meantime.....Krita...crash...booom...restart and so on.

Keep up the good work--this is some brilliant work.

Hi, i know it's not the answer you are looking for but have you considered trying Linux?
It's really easy nowadays and you might like it.
Not that i am in any way opposed to the idea of Krita on Mac!
But you could skip the waiting and as far as i know: as long as you have enough diskspace, you could even install Linux side by side with Macos.

Well, if you can code, I can help you get a development env up and running so you could do some debugging and fixing...
