Hello,
I would like to report a bug I experienced when using the latest Krita Mac build (2.9 at the time of this post.) The program opens fine, the GUI works, and saves seem functional. Unfortunately, I can't actually paint. Whenever I make a stroke across the canvas with my brush tool, it is registered in the layers panel (I can see the stroke in the little layer preview thumbnail). It then takes about a minute to be transferred to my canvas. Another interesting issue that I came across was that whenever I painted a large brush stroke, there would be blank squares on the canvas. For some reason, hiding and unhiding the layer with the brush strokes made these squares move around on the canvas. I have no idea if the lag and this blank square bug are related issue, but the possibility is worth exploring. Unfortunately, I do not have the experience necessary to fix code, however, I will give you my computer's specs in the hopes that someone can reproduce and test these issues: MacBook Pro (13-inch, Late 2011) Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory: 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Startup Disk: Macintosh HD Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB Running OSX Yosemite 10.10.2 (At the time of this post). I would be happy to test new mac builds to see if the issue persists, if no macs are available for testing. Just note that I can't fix code / find coding errors. Thanks, Daniel F. P.S. Great work so far! I'm really looking forward to using Krita eventually. |

Have you tried enabling/disabling opengl in the settings dialog? It seems that for some macs, some revisions of OSX, that makes a difference.

Hmm, that fixed the problem. Thanks! Since it seems to be a prevalent problem, I would suggest showing the workaround on the downloads page, to avoid the same question being asked multiple times. Right now it just has a warning about the download being unstable.

Hello new to the forum. I am new to Krita, I am anxiuos to get the lag off my mac. I get the same performance as OP. Please can you explain where this setting is on a mac? I have tried a couple of things but nothing is working. Thanks! |

As in all OSX applications, to change the settings, press Command-, to open the settings dialog, then selected the display page and uncheck the opengl checkbox. You can also try the new 3.0 development builds and see if those improve things for you: from 3.1 on we intend to support OSX fully, just like Windows and Linux. We need to rewrite a bunch of code first though, because Apple's OpenGL drivers are incomplete...
