suggestion: tools wanted

Sun Feb 07, 2016 1:17 pm
First off, I love Krita. But there are a few tools/options I'm used to having with a drawing program.

#1: blur tool. I know there is a tool that blends some, but I need to be able to blur completely. Like if I were to keep using it it would blur to nothing, there seems to be a very high limit on the blend/blur tool. (I know in most programs it looks like a water drop) so is there one and I just don't know where it is? Or can we get it?

#2: the option to past into the selected layer. This would be extremely helpful for animating. As it is now, its a nasty beast to try and get it to copy anything from one frame to another on the same layer. (also nice for drawing too but) and possibly "copy frame, paste frame" select multiple frames to copy and paste a whole "action" that would be so great.

Any thoughts?

Hey there!

1- There is a blur tool. In the brush editor (F5), select the Filter brush engine, and set the filter to Gaussian blur. You can also create a blur filter layer in the layer docker and mask it out.

2- The animation toolset is in beta right now. Copying and pasting frames can already be done. If you haven't yet, I made a video preview of the first animation beta -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uvju6sUNJA

In the latest beta/Krita 3 alpha, check out the shortcuts - there are quite a few functions that exist but have no default shortcut (settings menu -> Configure shortcuts).

Good luck!

As for blending, take a look at presets that has "smudge" in their names.(especially, smudge_soft)

Alright, thank you ^^

I'll have to get some of those keystrokes on my sidebar (I'm using a tablet, the only keyboard to speak of is the digital one that pops up (and consequently blocks what I'd need to click and drag while holding a key down)

Thank you for your answers.

I know that the animation is in it's early stages, just wanted to see if they were working on the things I would find useful (or if they already did and I just don't know the keyboard shortcuts)

By the way, Wolthera's Filter Brush Bundle contains among other things a blur filter brush.

You can find it (and other nice bundles) here: https://krita.org/learn/resources/
