Feature Request: Smart Objects

Fri Mar 18, 2016 10:51 pm
One more important thing beside "clipping mask" is "smart objects". Designers use them all the time and they are really time saver. There is also a lot of cool stuff on the market with this smart objects but they are useless for Krita :'(
Is there any way we can put this in new Kickstarter campaign?

Thanks! I know for this methods but Krita can't open those PS files with smart layers. They are not converted to file layers. Can we have support for this so Krita can load them as file layers? Also to have Transform Masks and Clone Layers comatable with PS smart layers. So we can open those files and work on Krita way.

Please check viewtopic.php?f=288&t=131448 and the amplified version https://krita.org/item/ways-to-help-kri ... -requests/. And also my reply to your other feature request. "Copy this thing from "PhotoTool PlusPro" or "Can we have this feature from PainterHurricane" are not good feature requests. And "designers use them all the time" is also an irrelevant argument: Krita is not meant for designers (or photographers), it's meant for painters and illustrators.

I recently had to open a Photoshop image with Krita for the first time and was suprised about Krita's good PSD support - even for psd files with many layers. So please keep this feature. :)

And thanks for giving such a great program and the results of several years of developing work for free to the community. That's awesome! :)
